reading this ignited a dying hope in me. it made me believe more on myself and my power to stand up for our country just like her. no doubt she's one of the few people i look up to in terms of journalism and patriotism. great read!! will surely reco this to my fellow filo readers.
•Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t care how Facebook has destroyed democracies around the world. It’s exactly why we should be more vocal in demanding transparency from these tech giants. With that, too, is a strong demand for our governments to put safeguards for human rights in the cyberspaces we occupy.
•Wasn’t it such a feat that Maria is the first Filipino recipient of the Nobel peace prize? Yet it wasn’t celebrated for what it was because she stood up to the dictator that was still in office.
•In a week, it will be a year since the biggest heartbreak of Leni’s loss, our loss, in our bid for the presidency last year. One of the things I kept highlighting while campaigning for her was “What’s personal is political” I came across that again while reading this and it brought fond memories but also sadness that it’s not yet in our collective consciousness. There always seems to be a disconnect between the organized system that is responsible for many our personal life-altering problems and even trivial day-to-day ones.

Truly inspirational tale by an incredibly strong women. I enjoyed reading more about the history of political turmoil in the Philippines and very much enjoyed her writing.

Beautifully written. Although the theme of this book is serious, I enjoyed reading it. I learned a lot from it and hoping that my country still has hope for change. It is sad to think how corrupt and abusive the people are in power. I hope and pray that we will soon have a better government and smarter citizens.
