This was such a romp!! I don’t typically go for graphic novels, but I devoured this one. I love horror so it was perfect.

This graphic novel is fantastic. The titular character is a 26 year old who quits her shitty temping career on a whim to help film an ultra-low budget, gory, indie, slasher film. The art is decent, but it's the writing that really shines. I came to really love the characters, even the less sympathetic ones. My favorite character was Spazzy, the woman in charge of special effects, most of which involved literal gallons of fake blood. Definitely a good read.

This was such a fun book! I loved Penny and her ragtag group. Watching them make their horror movie was really entertaining.

I need the sequel where they work on the next movie NOW!

This book is surprisingly funny. I think it does read more like a screenplay than your average comic. And it's very well-blocked and paced, which is cool since that's the energy that the protagonist brings to her new very fun but pretty chaotic group hobby.
I don't care about horror movies, even DIY ones, so the fact that I enjoyed this so much says something!

How did I sleep on this one for so long? The characters are awesome, the plot is weirdly uplifting for being about fake-stabbing a bunch of people, and the art is nothing short of jaw-dropping. I loved the nose-thumbing at conventional society, too. My only complaint is that there was too much packed into each page! My old eyes got tired tragically fast.

Highly recommended!

A really satisfying read from start to finish. Funny and heart warming (and gory!),the story follows Penny as she finds purpose and meaningful relationships while making a horror film. I read it at the library, but I'll be adding this to my personal library soon.
