Some random thoughts: Feyfey is a bit of an idiot. I like that her family is complicated and shitty. Tamlin is boring, but I get it, he's the stable one. I'm a bit in love with Rhysand, love a trickster (He reminds me of Loki so I'm a bit doomed). Lucien sounds really hot, I like his eye. The trials at the end were terrifying and pretty cool, but as soon as the riddle showed up, I thought: I hope the answer isn't love. So many ughs.
This is like a pretty good normal YA book, not what I expected from the hype. Apparently the second is better so we shall see.

Graphic animal deaths are one of my only triggers, and that happening not even 10 pages in is enough to really upset me. It’s not worth it.

Immediately so annoyed by Feyre, her family and the writing that it made the book very unenjoyable to read. It felt less like I was being told a story and more like I was being beaten over the head with one. I have better books to read.

Ok so I’m more of a fantasy reader than a romance reader and was anticipating I would hate this. I didn’t, it was fine. It was readable and I can see why it’s popular.
The main female character is bland as bread and you have to suspend disbelief on why everyone is obsessed with her.
I enjoyed learning about the faerie world the most and will continue to the next book to see how the conflict develops.

I found the writing style annoying and repetitive. The first half of the book left a lot of plot holes. The second half answered some questions. Overall, it was fine but wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to anyone.

Completely fell in love with this book, I'm sure the rest of the series will make me feel the same. definitely recommend to anyone in doubt.
