It took me til about half way through the book to get into it. I had heard the 2nd book was amazing so I was trying to get through this one. I did almost DNF it, but am glad I did not. The last 1/2 - 1/3 really grabbed me and pulled me into the story. It is a great stand alone book if you're not into series, but I would highly recommend continuing!
Honestly, I can’t believe I’ve finally read this.
I won’t deny that I had been avoiding this series, but more this author for years. But I finally this year caved and first read Crescent City and then got this series used off a friend on Bookstagram. So I caved and started this series. I wanted to understand the hype finally. Or I had a bit of FOMO so I read it.
And I enjoyed it. I thought it was good. I was intrigued always by the story and the characters. But I for sure didn’t fall head over heals for it. I did like CC more than this. But I do know that book 2 in this series, is the favorite so eventually I’ll read that one too.
