This was very fun, definitely deserves more acknowledgment from the world. The ending just felt a tiny bit rushed, especially when Count of Monte Cristo is such a long game. The audiobook was great.
Let's take a moment for this part, because it had me on my knees:
“I would read you like a novel. From cover to cover, learning
everything about you.”
He tilted his head. “Leisurely, only taking me out when you felt like it?” I snorted. “Is that how you read your novels? How uninspiring. No, I mean in a fierce frenzy, by candlelight, devouring you until I finished every page and committed it to memory, and then I’d flip right back to the front and start again from the beginning.”
“Perhaps I’m just reading the wrong things. Shall I tell you how I would read you? I’d read you like scripture, a prayer. And all the worship I felt, I’d heap at your feet.” His words were low, like he was actually praying, or reciting an incantation of the djinn, words for whispering magic and power.

Good adventure book. I liked that it was set in more of a dessert setting with that mythos. I felt like the forgiveness between the main characters happened a little too quick for me. And there were some confusing parts with all her enemies that felt a little too ways or contrived.
For a girl who spends the entire book seeking revenge, she didn’t exactly do a great job, apparently revenge means you just go straight back to kissing the man who betrayed you I guess
