I absolutely loved this book. It made me laugh, cry, hate and love. The second one is definitely way more darker then the first one which makes it more realistic. Nothing is just black or white, there's a variety of grey resembled in MMC, Zade, and other characters.
I'm really grateful to the author for writing about this themes, even though it is hard to read sometimes. We all know that is a lot of bad things happening in the world, yet we pretend that it's not there to be able to sleep in peace and without fear. H.D. Carlton did a great work at combining unpleasant experiences and situations with psychologically messed up relationship. She got me as obsessed with the plot and the characters as Zade is obsessed with Addie...

Editors. Just. Get some, editors. There were so many terribly written sentences, horrible similes and metaphors, and cringe-worthy moments of dialogue that I had to highlight all of them just to make myself feel as though I wasn’t as crazy as fucking Sibby. Since I powered through book one, I felt duty-bound to read this one and finish the duology but god it was a Herculean effort. The plot of the story is still intriguing, although Adeline’s captivity goes on for a bit longer than I feel is truly necessary. I do love the characters, especially Jay and Sibby. Also, there are a few very sexy one-liners during the sex scenes but even those were made less intriguing and spice-filled because of the multitude of errors throughout.

Beware of the triggers. Both books are extremely dark, but this one is worse.

This is the second book to this duet story (see Haunting Adeline) and it was rough. I cried a few times during this story. It’s extremely graphic and twisted.

Picture how people will gather or rubber neck to look at a car accident to see the damage (curiosity killed the cat) but for this book, the accident would involve multiple totaled cars that are on fire and the people who were in the cars are trapped and cannot escape.

Although this book was severely disturbing, I did enjoy the story.  The love story between the two MC is dark and twisted but passionate.  It’s a world riddled with danger and despair, and a monster like Zade to hunt down anyone who harmed his little mouse.

Despite how extremely dark this book is, it holds a place in my heart. The resilience Addie has and the portrayal of PTSD brought up emotions from my own past I wasn’t quite aware I was ready to face head on yet. A very healing read for me, which is probably not what I or anyone else would expect. Either way, I loved this book, and it’s getting a reread at some point so I can annotate the heck out of it.
I also would’ve rated 5 stars but I felt the conclusion was rushed.

It was really good! Far darker than the first one and definitely not for the faint of heart, but I enjoyed it. Not as much as the first but it was still good and I liked the conclusion. I’m excited to see more of them in sibel’s and Molly’s books, but their story feels complete.
