I want to love this series, and keep reading hoping for a better outcome. This has been yet another stressful journey. There were random tangents all throughout the book. The weirdest being a tale by Doc that seemed to make it sound like as long as you were a functional alcoholic, it is ok, not to mention the weirdness of college aged Doc getting a peek at the guys work records? How/what in the world?

There were major continuity issues all throughout the story. On page 114 (kindle version) there was an entire exchange between Hannah and Normal with Mike where Hannah asking if she could tell the owners (Dick and Sally) about the murder victim. Then on page 117 there is an exchange between Hannah and Norman giving each other looks because they had forgotten to ask Mike if they were allowed to say anything.
On 147 one of the characters references the cause of death which they should not have known. Well, she must be the killer! Nope, just another continuity problem.

Then on page 177 after a long chat in their hotel room, Hannah and her sister are in the kitchen preparing for the day, but it is mentioned that Hannah is putting on her shoes. Did she walk downstairs barefoot and then decide to put her shoes on in the kitchen?

I am also over the way Hannah and everyone treats Andrea like she is completely inept. Yes, she may not be the baker that Hannah is, but treating her like a child and talking down to her is just so wrong.

I will say that I appreciate that they have moved on from the “Rational mind” stuff that was in the last few books and I am beyond grateful.

As an avid fan of the first half of this series, I am trying to stick it out and hope things get better, but whoever is editing these books really need to step up their game. I used to wait for the day that they came out and would be at the book store that day to pick up my copy. I have now moved to just putting my name on the waiting list at the library and hoping things will finally turn around and Hannah will get her groove back.

I think this was fun read. i also liked how this book formate was a bit diffrent from previous books. Sometimes the over explaining of and how the author writes is not my favorites and i something think the dialogue it a bit bland. This book did not really feature the characters that i love as much. There was a big ending at the end of this book and i am excoted to see how this book effect the future ones!! a cute read and def a new favorite in this series

another quick and kinda boring Hannah Swenson Mystery. i’ve read all but a couple of the prequels and i enjoy the characters a lot. i normally am clueless about who committed the murder but it’s just gotten to where the storyline of the characters is happening so slow that i don’t have much desire to read more because it will just be more of the same and i’m not a cozy mystery lover. sometimes i like the unchangingness of certain books but it’s just getting boring with this series.

Book #28 read in 2022

This installment of the long running, Hannah Swenson series almost felt like one of the first. I really enjoyed the mystery in this one and that it was away from the bakery. There are such great characters in this series and it was great to see different ones featured than the normal few. I can't wait for the next mystery!

Zero Stars!
⚠️ This book sucks
So stupid!
Really stupid.
Usually I like to say positive things about books because writing a book must be difficult, but this one is insulting to a reader's intelligence.

I was excited to listen to this book on a long drive, but after two chapters I chose to drive in silence!!

I thought I'd drive my car off the road as Delores was explaining all the purchases that she made to care for two cats for a week! Her list went on and on and on. And Doc, he just listened and didn't mind that Delores just spent their entire IRA!

I could go on, but suffice to say, leave this one in the Little Free Library and close the door!
