I’m a fan of cozy mysteries, especially the ones with cats, and ones that are paranormal. I thought I'd give a food mystery a chance, and this was ok, not my favorite one by far, and rather predictable on who the killer was. It took me some time to get through this book considering I kept on putting it down and picking it back up. I do like that there are recipes in the book, hopefully one that are good to try and taste good.

I genuinely think 2/8 hours of the audiobook were recipes and I don’t understand how she’s dragging them out because they were maybe 3 minutes long in the early books and now they’re 20.

About a third of the way into this book, a character who knows nothing about the murder suddenly declares that someone else “could never shoot anybody”
I hoped and prayed that that character was the murderer, because otherwise this author just fully forgot which information about the death each character had.  Basic story writing.  Step one of being an author: what does the character know?
Alas, I was wrong, and the character just randomly knew a bunch of details because this author has, apparently, no concept of continuity.  Also, it’s boring.  There are ways of describing dialogue outside of “said” and “said quickly” but, sadly, Joanne Fluke isn’t aware of them.

The story line was okay. The recipes were annoying. Just finished it because it was an easy read. Okay author if I need a book that I really don’t need to think about the story

Read as part of book club because one member is obsessed with this series. It was a lighthearted read. I actually made a few of the recipes from the book, and they are actually very good!
