Trovo che, al livello dell'analisi strutturale e dei concetti che applicano a livello della società, Bauman è molto forte. Però quello che manca per me è un pensiero più approfondito su come gli individui vivono queste strutture. Ovviamente non è per forza l'obiettivo principale della sociologia però quindi non lo posso criticare troppo per un aspetto inerente del suo campo di studio.

It’s quite interesting how Bauman unravels the flow of liquid modernity through many examples of induced “liberty” (is liberty a solution for a problem or the problem for something that didn’t actually need a solution in the first place?) and individuality on the development of the contemporary society, for example. His logic is heavily rooted in these concepts, and it truly helps the reader understand the multiple perspectives of liquid modernity in a very intuitive way.

the book started out strong for me, but my interest petered out toward the later chapters. there isn't much to parse out in the original thesis of the book once you get past the binaries of "solid" and "liquid" modernity. i was struggling to relate to the last part about community most especially.
Interesting book. I read it as a follow up to All Things Shining, which I read some years ago. Liquid Modernity is a good book, but I’m not familiar with sociology enough to properly grasp all its ideas.
