It’s not super well written and really didn’t live up to my expectations, but it was a nice read with some interesting details and symbolism. I think it was quite important for its time, even if it isn’t beautifully written.

Slightly surprised I liked this as much as I did, but here we are.

I guess I like reading about extremely annoying characters that irritate me to no end and make me want to fight them <3

This book was very, very slow. I liked some aspects of the book, but not many. If you're looking for a classic book to read that's good, i would not recommend it.

Holden Caulfield is an annoying little shit but I enjoyed reading his thoughts. This book is surprisingly funny but it could get emotional and reflective at times. The language and writing is pretty accessible considering that it's a classic. Would definitely give this a reread if I had the chance. I get why people have mixed feelings about the book. Holden could get pretty annoying at times, he's had a lot of moments where he's being a complete jerk and a hypocrite, but the book's still pretty good, not the best, but it's good enough.

An well-realised character study of an insightful, troubled young man who is full of definite answers for the strange, inauthentic behaviours of the peers and adults in his life. The plot drives an exploration of his neuroses, and challenges their preconceptions about those around him - often confirming them. The narrator's tone and cynicism is rendered very faithfully to the experience of being young, and coupled with the struggles of disconnection, loss, and the chaos of life.
