This is sci-fi for science and philosophy lovers. I was going 'wow that's so cool!' for like two-thirds of the book, because the beginning is a little slow. Most of the book connected to me not on an emotional level (like most fiction tends to do), but more like a murder mystery- I was intrigued by the three body problem itself, the alien civilization itself, the secret societies, etc.

The real strength of this book lies in its love for science - for wanting eloquent explanations for everything and to anticipate the consequences. This can kinda drag on in the form of chapters upon chapters of exposition, but I fuck with it because one, I too want everything explained, and two, I too am a physics student! How am I meant to resist this kind of thinking??

It's good yall! Someone please make a real life 3body.net

I had been eyeing this book in the library for a few months now, and I finally got round to reading it. It was definitely a fascinating concept and a new twist on science fiction, although for me, with a humanities background there was a lot of science in here that I found a little difficult to grasp. It might be faster paced for someone who understood everything, I found myself slowing down and re-reading sections.
The characters were amazing, I really found myself caring about them and their stories, and I didn't see the plot twist coming. Looking back, I could see the foreshadowing was in place for it, I just hadn't picked up on them because I was so invested in the characters.

Fantastic sci-fi, both abstract and eerily real. A poignant reflection on scientific progress and what it means to be part of humanity. Only thing I didn’t like was the main character being a little flat, he’s just a vehicle in the story.

This is science fiction that goes really hard on the science. The explanations were long-winded and a slog to read through. I thought the majority of the characters were flat, with Ye Wenjie being the most interesting one.
