When compared to 1984 and A Brave New World, this dystopian tale is a let down.

Superior to Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four" in nearly every respect. My favorite of the classic dystopian novels.

A surprisingly funny book! It's also a fascinating turn of usual dystopian novels where the protagonist is the instigator of revolution. In this book the protagonist is a happy tool of the State, and things take a noirish turn after that! Very cool!

This was probably the least enjoyable book I've ever read, which is surprising because I really expected to love it.

When they said this book influenced George Orwell’s 1984, I didn’t realize exactly how much that meant. 1984 is basically a modern rewrite of We. At some points it felt verbatim. However, that didn’t bother me too much since I enjoyed 1984 and this book as well and think them to both be historically and culturally significant. Both are relevant to today.

This book had me interested from the get go but the episodic nature of the passages were at times difficult to follow. I found my interest waning at certain parts because of this. Additionally the language the author/translator used was fascinating but occasionally exacerbated the hard to understand gaps and make it more difficult to remember what had happened when I would pick up the book. The statements this book made were what kept me going and overall I am happy I completed this novel.

Also incidentally kept up my Hunger Games reading as the narrator of this novel was one of the actors in the Hunger Games trilogy. Toby Jones had played Claudius Templesmith, the commentator for the games.
