Me ha encantado. Un hombre simplemente jamás entenderá el sentido de comunidad que tenemos las mujeres. Ha tocado todos los palos: raza, género, sexualidad, medio ambiente, presiones estéticas a las mujeres, culpa, odio al capitalismo… Simplemente increíble.

Currently purchasing this book (it's in my cart as I type this review). There are few books I'm driven to immediately buy. This was one of them.
Lorde writes so powerfully and beautifully. I haven't read any of her writings before and was swept away by the immense surety and truth of her prose. Speaking about her own deep emotions undergoing a breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent mastectomy, she gives voice to fear, power, and love. She explores her own identity as a Black lesbian as it relates to the suffering she undergoes when she loses her breast. She exposes her ire at the ideas of prosthetic breasts and breast reconstruction.
She emphasizes that the love of women supported her through her illness and she speaks about how you don't have to always be happy in a world of suffering.
I loved this book. Rest in peace, Audre Lorde.

Sis was TEACHING all up and through these pages. Indeed, teaching and remembering the collective we, all of us, while asking that we learn to ourselves in a different way than we have previously. I’m so glad she shared this literary constellation - on everything! Lorde’s rumination’s on women-love, the power of a close female tribe to heal even as we face pain and loss is every bit as life-giving as she is.
