Well this was a good creepy time! I had no idea what to expect going in, but I was glued to the page from start to finish, and there were several "oh damn, Chupeco went there" moments in the writing, particularly comparing the Hollywood crew to the Spanish colonisers of the 16th century.

I will say that there WERE a few too many characters for my liking and given that many of them were referred to by both their names and a variety of nicknames, it was sometimes hard to keep track of who was who. I also felt that the protagonist could have been fleshed out more than he was. Like, I understand why Chupeco created that character in that way, but there were several times when I felt like I had no idea who the person telling the story actually was.

Anyway, despite all of that, this was creepy and twisty and turny and I had a fantastic time.

The folklore was confusing until I got to Act III somewhat! Love the horror, suspense and LGBTQ rep!

I think I liked this one a bit better that the Girl From the Well. It was really action packed and high paced, and there was a twist at the end that really took me by surprise! The island setting provides an excellent atmosphere for the eerie tropical horror of this story. Really short and fun! Would recommend.
