There’s nothing I hate more than dnfing but I just couldn’t with this book.
I read half of it but it pissed me off and it was just so annoying I had to put it down.

Absolutely fucking delightful. Petty crime, intrigue, murder (maybe??), highly feminist themes + girl power, and a protagonist with just the right amount of snark.
You will absolutely adore this book. It had a Veronica Mars vibe to it which was suberb *chefs kiss* Very creative premise and clever use of names. Just now realizing that Henry’s football number is 8 BECAUSE HE’S KIND HENRY THE EIGHTH lmao wow I feel silly for missing that

I listened to this as an audio book. So much fun hearing all the different characters. I thought it would be like a rom com at high school, which it pretty much was, but with a little twist. I am not a young adult, but I still enjoyed the drama.

Holy shit this book took me on a roller-coaster and I loved every minute of it.
I'm a HUGE fan of the Tudors and anything to do with Tudor history, so this book was right up my alley. I loved the little references to certain people or things that any Tudor fan would notice. But you don't have to be a Tudor history buff to like this book.
I LOVED ANNIE/CLEVES. Seriously, this girl and I would be best friends in real life. I loved living inside her head and she was hilarious! I thought her relationship with Henry was a bit fucked up (but so was the REAL Anne of Cleves). I thought Hannah's take on each of the characters was refreshing while still hearkening back to the actual people those characters are based on.
Can I just say something about that ending? It turned into a straight up high school-murder mystery-thriller and I was not expecting it. In fact, this book had so many twists and turns and sometimes the drama had my head spinning. But what else can you expect from a book based on the life and court of Henry VIII? I wasn't sure how the book was going to end, but I never in a million years would have predicted this ending.
I went into this book only knowing that it was a modern day-high school retelling of Henry VIII and his six wives (girlfriend's in this case) and I thought it was done very well and any fan of the Tudor's or history buff would love this book. This is definitely not your typical high school contemporary romance.
