I did quite like The Fine Print, but I wasn't in love with it, however I liked the teasing of this couple in that book and was curious so I picked it up. I'm so glad I did because I really enjoyed this book, and definitely think it is WAY better than book one. It was just a really quick, and addictive read. The page count is quite large (for a romance at least) but I still managed to read this in one day, because I just couldn't put this one down.
The characters were also just really engaging. Declan and Iris were really interesting characters. They were not the most unique, if you've read a grumpyxsunshine billionaire romance before, you've read these characters before, but I do think Lauren Asher did a great job at fleshing out these characters and making them feel like real people, but also having them have great growth throughout the novel.
However, this book shines most in the romance departement. The dynamic between Iris and Declan was just everything to me. Prior to the start of this novel they have known each other for quite some time now, and they just know each other really well. Their dynamic was just really great, and I loved seeing it develop throughout the book to be more of a relationship. Seeing them slowly develop feelings for each other, or realise they have feelings for each other was just so much fun. I just really loved them together.
So yeah, I was having a great time, and then the third act conflict happened, and it was just terrible. I don't know. I really didn't like it. I was starting to get extremely dissapointed in the book because of it. However, the resolution of it was just top notch. I think it's one of my favourite resolutions of the third act conflict in a romance book I've read. I feel like even though the conflict was really stupid the resolution just made their relationship so much stronger, so I can't fully complain about it either. So yeah, I did really enjoy this book even if I didn't absolutely love it in the end. I'm extremely excited to read the next book in this series as well though.

Overall, I liked this couple better than than the previous book's. The troupe is marriage of convenience, and, yes, Declan is established as a very selfish character, so was this couple particularly healthy? No, but I wasn't expecting them to be. I wanted to be entertained and not cringe too much, and that was achieved. One major flaw with their relationship's progression was that it happened way too fast. There either should have been a pre-established recognition of attraction between the two, but it is repressed due to their working dynamic, or the pacing of the relationship and realization of feelings should have happened much more slowly. I liked Iris as a character (was not entirely sold on the narrator's voice, though: gave Carrigan from Casper vibes). The third act break-up makes sense for their characters, but I do think that fairly good communication had been established previously in the book, so a healthy conversation and then a united front to overcome their main professional obstacle (
Declan's father
) would have been preferred.

“I am falling in love with you, Iris Elizabeth Kane.”

This quote. If you know, you know. Although it wasn't an instant 5 stars for me, it definitely was after the half mark. This might have been the first book I've read that has a contractual marriage so I was in for a ride. I wasn't expecting much from this book although basing from the rating, I knew that people like the second and third book of the series compared to the first one. Little did I knew that I will be agreeing so badly to those rating because this book made me smile, laugh, sad and all the emotions in between. I'm actually sad that I read this as an audiobook because I would have loved to annotate this if I had a physical copy. Especially that quote because damn I swooned so hard. It also made me appreciate Cal - given that he was the third male lead. So I'm actually excited to get the third book and know Cal more.

Iris and Declan was such a cute couple. Especially when Iris makes fun of Declan because she's the only one who can without getting a scratch. I wasn't expecting a he fell first trope because who would have thought Declan was capable of being in love. But he did and I swear, I really swooned. You can see the theme for me, right? Insta-5 stars if I swoon that many times. When he gave her what she wanted at the end, I merely died from swooning. So yes, I'm a sucker for guys who chases after their girls, you can't blame me, right?

Can this be read as a stand-alone book? I would say yes. So definitely recommend this to friends. The first book's main characters are well introduced and explained. Although it really is better to read the first book just to get more of that family relationship between the three brothers.

This was a cute read and I had a good time with it. The characters were good, the plot was decent, and it had a few tropes that I enjoy.

Didn’t expect much from this, throughly surprised. Thought every chapter read like a one shot I had a lovely time reading it.
