I screamed every time I read the word ‘betwixt’. I screamed a lot.

I loved this book series so much. The world building is incredible!! The characters are interesting and fun to read about. And the character development is great.

I was hooked before I read it because a student gifted it to me, which makes it a treasure! The magic system was awesome and the creep factor was great!

I REALLY enjoyed this one. It was a bit slow to start, but after finishing part one, the rest of the book flew by. The world building was amazing and I love all the characters. They’re complex and everything felt very thought out. This was a great book, can’t wait to read the sequel!

“You make me believe that I can do something better with my life than die.”

I think this book surely secured my feelings of warm gratitude to Margaret Owen. The way they use TEETH as magic in this book is so fucking cool. The way that class is such a huge focus— in a book where ur supposed to like some of the royals— feels so much more honest than a lot of tales I’ve read that deal with class disparity between two close friends. I was hooked from page one, I really love to root for a girl who never had a choice but is herself even if it’s horrible. I love a story with teeth and this one had that narratively, in the growth of character, and LITERALLY LIKE THE MAGIC SYSTEM IS TEETH. It’s such a cool book and it really comes back to form with a meaningful spin on the classic adventuring tale. My god! Also all these characters have real depth and exist outside of the page for me. I was very happy with this book!!!
