I love magic. Sometimes this book lulled. Sometimes it was fascinating. But there was lots of emotion and power and ADVENTURE!

Satisfying ending to the series, but I do not feel like this book earned it's length (especially considering that book 2 ended on a cliffhanger, books 2 and 3 feel essentially like 1 very long book).

Bro. This book was so good. Maybe better than the first book, I'm not sure. I did feel near the 3/4 point that the book was dragging a bit. But overall fantastic end to this series.
I started this book right when it came out and then got caught up in school and didn't finish it until now (thank god for thanksgiving break or I wouldn't have finished this til next year honestly). I loved how the ending was neatly wrapped up, but I don't think it had to be 600 pages - it felt pretty long even though the story had a lot of action and was always moving along. I think I liked the first two books in the series the best, but this was a good ending. It just wasn't super memorable in my opinion.
oh wow where do i start,, i still cant see through my tears, this goodbye is a hard one
first my adoration for the author's mind bc never a work of theirs disappointed me, a creativity beyond worlds and im so thankful i was able to read them, just wow x 34865384 times more
secondly, the universe of shades of magic, VERY beautiful details, one of the magic's most unique kind, no wonder how deeply i feel connected to this world, its been a long while since i felt this way about a fictional universe i am mesmerized
for the third and most importantly, for me, the characters, i feel like i have a new family now; kell, rhy, lila, alucard, holland and countless amazing side characters, i will hold on to them dearly ~~
i dont write long often but im too emotional rn so ,, the only thing left to say now is, ANESH

Honestly, I thought it would end up taking me longer than 27 days to read this. What a big, daunting book lol (I wasn't really in a long fantasy books era but maybe now I'm back?). I wish I had taken notes as I read in order to write a better review.
I think A Conjuring of Light sometimes suffered from things working out a little too conveniently. I could probably conjure up a list of things that seemed a little too unrealistic continuity-wise, or that don't hold up to scrutiny (I mean, what do you mean Lila killed a competitor in this tournament that is supposed to be symbolic of the peace between nations, and then never has any consequence for it???). But, if you suspend disbelief just a little, it's a fun, action-packed conclusion to this great fantasy series. Really, a lot does happen in these 600+ pages.
And, even though I say that sometimes things were a little "too convenient" for the heroes, I think there was a satisfying amount of failure and push back for the level of threat that Schwab wrote for them.
Also, Lila Bard aside, I really loved the characters here. I think, based on my appreciation for Alucard Emery and for the privateer in Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse, I may have a certain book boyfriend type.....
I'm glad to have picked this one up.
