the relationship progression of Ravi and pip is the best thing ever

and also the tension building in the last few chapter make the whole book even better.

This was an incredible book. The characters and the plot line were so incredibly well planned and executed. I watch and read a lot of crime based shows, movies and books and often find myself working out the ending way before I reach it but with this, there were so many options and twists that I found myself guessing over and over again as the plot developed. 

The audiobook only added to my reading experience with this book as it is a full cast audiobook but it also has phone calls as actual phone calls, when Pip is reading from her case notes, you can hear the movement of paper, when she records conversations, you can hear the equipment whirring and beeping etc. The audiobook was a fully immersive experience and it was brilliant.

I read this for Book Club and ooh, it was DRAMATIC! 😳 The concept of Pip investigating a murder for an EPQ was ridiculous but I still was gripped during every moment, especially the last 40% where things got more mixed up! 

Putting down a spoiler below (so do not read if you don’t want to know), so I can take it to Book Club ✨

I cannot BELIEVE that Elliot Ward, in the end, was Sal’s killer and had abducted an Andie Bell look-alike, Isla, for his old house he’d supposedly sold 🫠 I also found it slightly convenient that Becca Bell was the one who did the killing; I feel like if there’s one critique for this book is that maybe this wasn’t really discussed before the confessional came, so the shock felt a bit too easy and without enough set-up. But still, SUPER WILD 😫

I am sometimes a little bit skeptical of BookTok’s favourites (because I detested It Ends With Us), but this one is definitely a go ✨ Easy to read and emotional, especially towards the end! 🥲❤️

Wow ok where to start this was my first mystery type book and my first book without any smut in as long as I can remember but wow this book was immaculate I didn’t even miss the lack of romance. This story had my full attention for days I mean I would be thinking about it constantly with all the plot twists and new information. It was fabulously done, it would be a perfect book for a book club because there is just so much going on and so much you could discuss. The story follows Pip a grade 12 doing her capstone projet on a murder that occurred in her town 5 years ago only Pip doesn’t think the so called murder did it. Its a story about a bad ass fmc who doesn’t let anyone tell her what she can or can’t do. She unapologetically in what she does and finding out the truth on what really happened all those years ago and who really was Andie Bell. It written as is the book itself is the capstone journal with text message exchanges and transcripts its very visual which I loved as someone who sometimes needs that extra imagery. I cannot recommend this book enough 100/10, couldn’t put it down. I’m very excited to read the next two books. But to be clear the Andie Bell mystery will be wrapped up at the end of the book so you don’t need to commit to the entire series right away. I hope you love this book as much as I did cuties 🥰.
