Ok so, most of the book was  paced, poorly written, and boring. The main character - Cadence Sinclair and her family - The Sinclair's, are such a basic white family and me, being of color - Indian specifically, did not enjoy the grandfather's personality. In fact I completely hated him.
"Don't take no for an answer." One if his mottos that he taught his grandchildren, consent is important and he advises children to not care about it. Wow.
Another bit I absolutely hated was the sisters, so toxic. The entire family is toxic.

Ok but listen, the last seven chapters were actually good. I liked it. The plot twist was good, I guess but it took me 81 chapters to get there and not everyone is as patient as I am so, I really don't recommend this.

i liked the writing of the book because it was very poetic at first, but after a while it got kind of confusing and i forgot what happened when i stopped reading. my biggest problem with this book was that the characters weren’t likeable to me, because i didn’t really get to know know them. the author described their personalities a lot, but failed to truly show them through their actions. also, i didn’t really like the main character.. i thought it was really interesting how she gave away all her stuff, but lockhart didn’t get into depth enough of why she was doing it (a little, but not enough). the aunts were always fighting, but there was no internal conflict, no explanation of their feelings. it was all out of cady’s perspective and she failed to understand anyone else’s emotions but her own.
due to all of this, the ending was not really meaningful. it was obviously shocking and sad, but it seemed very shallow because of the way i perceived the characters.

DID NOT FINISH: 33%

Because the book was very confusing to understand and the characters were annoying. And nothing made sense I had to read a page like 5 times to understand anything.

I liked it. Read it in one sitting, sadly I found the “big mystery” a but predictable, but it still baffled me when i realised. Also the ending felt a bit rushed.

i liked this book a lot, however the ending was quite odd and rushed. also when
cady started getting migraines
it just took a long portion of the book, and wasn’t that interesting.
