I've tried to finish Manology: Secrets of Your Man's Mind Revealed and I just cannot. As a person who really loves self-help books, I wonder just how bad Tyrese Gibson and Rev. Run are together to make me think this self-help book is actually for the dumbest women on the planet. Neither Gibson nor Rev. Run have much to say that has not been said in recently published self-help relationship books that tell Black women they're single and have problems keeping men and it's all their fault. Clearly, I'm completely biased because I see very little value in such books. But either way, at least what's here should be different from what Gibson wrote in his last self-help book and what Steve Harvey wrote in his last two relationship guides. I mean, c'mon.

This book was an okay read. Tyrese is a "former man whore" and Rev Run is... well, a holy family man. It was interesting reading their different male perspectives on different topics but more often than not I got annoyed with the two them. Tyrese basically said in every chapter, women, you better bend over backwards and succumb to every whim and desire of your man or else he's going to step out on you - take it from me I'm former man whore. My girl now is so great, she picks up after me, cooks my meals, holds me down at 3am, takes care of the house and boosts my ego on a daily basis while handling her business without complaint. Right. And what about making your girl's life a little easier, boosting her ego and making her feel just as good about herself?? The only time he ever gave women any kind of props is when he was talking about the "thugs" going to jail and their women making the seven hour bus rides to go see them, and doing with less so they can run around being "thugs".

I liked Rev Run's section of chapters better. They seemed more relatable and realistic. But even most of his stuff all went back to the Bible and what the bible says you are to act. Which I guess is fine of that's your thing.

After all what said and done though I did get tidbits of knowledge from their pages. I always knew it, but the book reinforced how men need constant reassurance (and are needy as fuck!). I learned that you need to take time out for your man, show him you appreciate him from time to time. And you have to show him in a way he will notice (boys are slow; like a little gift on any day other than birthday, fathers day & anniversaries - I guess making sure coming home to a clean house after a long shift and not having to worry about who's watching the kids when doesn't count). I also learned that men don't communicate well (duh) and why. And how to talk to them and when.

I feel the book for the most part is aimed at single women trying to get a man, or keep the questionable male and his bad behaviors. If you're anything other than this woman, you have to take what they say with a grain of salt.

(This is the longest review I've ever written, lol)

So amazing! The last few chapters are fantastic. I learned so much. I'll definitely be re-reading. So good. I recommend highly.
