Best book of the series so far, by far.
None of the plotlines dragged, and I was thrilled reading the whole way through. Surprisingly enough, the only part I really disliked was the ending, a stark reversal of the previous few books. Jordan has not handled the Forsaken particularly well, killing them off indiscriminately without much character development. I doubt Lanfear and Moiraine are really dead, and will probably show up later after an encounter with the fae beyond the doorway, but Rahvin dies without Rand exchanging a single word with him, despite being built up as one of the endgame villains, and Asmodean, one of the more interesting characters in the book, was killed off out of nowhere without any explanation whatsoever. This was a great book up until the last couple chapters, but I'm quite ready to take an extended break from the Wheel of Time before reading book six.

The ending!! I need a break after this looooong book and read something else but I cannot wait to dive in to the next one.
The characters are growing into themselves, and although we didn’t have Perrin here, I still enjoyed it very much. I especially love reading the section with ladies.
It does however slows down to a crawl in the middle. Not much has happened for most of the book, and it was challenging to plow through it. But the ending made it up for it.

Reread.
I’m getting kind of frustrated with this series. I’m so bored of all the female characters and their tempers and bickering, as well as the obsession with their outfits and how low cut they are. I’m so bored of all the male characters and their endless refusals of the call and confusion about the women. It all seems a bit like a teenage boy’s fantasy.
Also, he spends soooo much time in the weeds. I love the descriptions and the worldbuilding, but 2 pages of description to one paragraph of dialogue is a little overkill.
All that said, I still love the basic story line and the world he’s built. He shines in his action sequences. And magic is just fun. I’ll finish the series again, but this’ll probably be the last time.
