This review is more generally for the series. Overall I loved it. The action was non stop and all the characters were fun to follow. I didn’t love how the sexual content greatly increased around book three or four. My teenager brought these to me and they’re pretty explicit for books aimed at younger readers. It’s tough because you don’t know that until you’re so far in that it’s hard to put it down.
That’s my main criticism along with some fairly predictable plot points surrounding the pairings off of characters. But, even though they were predictable, it was still pretty enjoyable to watch the relationships develop.

I liked this series, I fell in love with some characters and they will always be in my heart.
Chaol: my favourite character in this whole series. I wish for him and Yrene to have a forever happily ever after because he simply deserves it. No criticisms, he’s literally the best character in this series imo
Lorcan: my second fav character in this whole series. He’s been through a lot and finally found joy. He also deserves all the happiness.
Yrene: Yrene is a ray of joy and sunshine and I absolutely adore that. The love Chaol & Yrene have for each other MELTS me - love it, love them.
Borte: I know she was a side character but I loved how edgy she was.
the 13: My heart is BROKEN AND SHATTERED about the 13 (minus Manon). Was actually devastated that they died. I loved Asterin.
Elide: I liked Elide thought she was going to discover a random power since she comes from a gifted line but turns out, no. ngl I do ship Lorcan & Elide together so I’m happy.
Rowan & Aelin: not going to lie, I don’t ship them and they weren’t my fav characters, got kind of bored with their story. I never felt a strong bond for their relationship. I loved Celaena in assassins blade/earlier books as just an assassin - loved her wits and personality then. That kind of died down for me for the rest of the series.
The rest - I don’t really care too much so that’s that.
I loved the world and it aches that I’m being sucked out of the world and that I’ve finished the series. I loved reading what they were up to and the relationships formed and I loved the happily ever after at the end
However, at some points, I found this book just too long and wished for it to be finished.
Also this is definitely personal and it is for Aelin to say such things as she has that personality, but calling her mate and cadre dogs was funny the first time, the rest was just disrespectful

My favorite fantasy series I’ve read so far. Loved the characters, the world-building, the pacing, the relationship dynamics. Loved when a series comes to a well-planned, well-deserved ending even though I didn’t want it to be over. This book made my cry multiple times. For better or worse, a series’ final chapter really impacts its re-readability & this is definitely a series I will continually return to.
