I just can't do the synopsis things right now. Here's the GR one:
Former CIA agent Bailey Jones has no room in her life for a reckless, rule-breaking Irishman, and she’s vowed to steer clear of the tempting bad boy who lured her into his bed under false pretenses.
When Sean is implicated in the robbery of a Dublin bank, Bailey knows something isn’t right. So what if she can’t trust him? There’s no way Sean would end up on the wrong side of the law. In fact, he’s stuck in the middle of a dark and dirty conspiracy that could put his twin brother’s life at risk with one wrong move. And Bailey’s life too when she agrees to help.

Onto the review:

This was a quick read for me. Mainly because I just wanted to get it over with since I hadn't wanted to read it in the first place. And I have a reason for that too.

After the last book, [book:Midnight Action|18141689] (which I loved), I was very curious regarding a sub-plot, that I was hoping would be in this book, about two sub-characters. The sub-plot was there and I really wanted to know what would happen so I kinda skimmed the book.

I got what I wanted, more frustration in my wait for the book with those sub-characters as protagonists, but I also found out that I hated one of the protagonists of this book. She had one quality that I absolutely loathe. She was a liar. And she didn't just lie to other people. No, she also lied to herself so that she didn't feel bad about her shitty behaviour toward the other protagonist. She was a cowardly bitch of a person who kept finding excuses to treat the guy like shit because she couldn't figure out her own shit.

Safe to say, she annoyed the fuck out of me.

I mean, I understood the reasons she had behind her actions, but that didn't excuse her behaviour toward him and it certainly didn't excuse the lies. I hated her.

The other protagonist, Sean, was good. He wasn't my favourite characters but he was a good guy and a good characters. I liked him fine. I just wish he'd told Bailey to get over herself and take the assumptions she had about the kind of person he was, and fuck off.

But anger at Bailey aside, this book had a good plot, really good sub-plots about two other characters (as I've already mentioned). It was a well-written and well-paced novel full of actions and characters that I cared about (except Bailey, of course. Her, I would shoot myself) and was overall not a bad read. I would have liked it better without she-who-caused-me-to-rant.

I recommend reading the other book in the series. They're better. Then, if you like them, you can try this one.

This is the first book in Kennedy's KILLER INSTINCTS series that I've read. I really enjoyed her NA book, so gave this one a try. Some interesting stuff here (esp. the set-up for a future book/subplot with two male operatives falling for each other), but the main couple did not appeal. Dominating alpha male who has been lusting after the heroine for 5 years, and who a year ago pretended to be his twin brother in order to sleep with the heroine (whom he thought was dating her at the time). Turns out that she knew it was the other brother, but never told hero that, b/c she didn't want to feel guilty about sleeping with the guy she was attracted to but didn't want to like. Angsty secrets all around...

Didn't really care for the dynamic between Bailey and Sean. Bailey doesn't like domineering controlling guys, due to a past rife with them; why, then, is she attracted to Sean? Beyond the sexual, that is? I didn't really get a sense of anything they have in common besides living for danger and lusting after one another.

What percentage of badass rom suspense heroines have to be taught/policed into accepting that they don't have to be independent/go it alone? That used to be the message to the males in earlier romances; why has that lesson shifted to the women?

Totally didn't buy Sean's turnaround re allowing Bailey to handle danger herself at book's end, not after all the annoying gotta protect my woman crap he spewed throughout the rest of the book.

Bailey and Sean may have spent one sexy, steamy night together but Sean's lies drove them apart and Bailey is no where near ready to forgive. But with Sean in trouble Bailey will call in all of her markers to save him. Even if he doesn't want to be saved. Sean knows he made a big mistake with Bailey but he can't let her go. With his identical twin in trouble Sean will do all her can to save him and grudgingly accepts Bailey's help. Can he save his family, keep Bailey safe, and prove that he's the right man for her without losing her forever? Great continuation of the Killer Instincts series with lots of appearances of characters from previous novels. Fun, fast paced, sexy read!

Opposites attract. Sean Reilly is a sexy, reckless, rule-breaking Irishman and Bailey Jones is a tough as nails planner. She has no need for the craziness that Sean brings to her life she doesn’t want to want him. She has had enough trouble in her life brought on by men. Now Sean is in trouble and it’s Bailey to the rescue but can she save him and keep her heart safe?
This is fun romantic suspense. Midnight Captive is a fun addition to the Killer Instincts series and I really enjoyed it but I must admit I am anxiously awaiting for Liam & Sully’s story. Also what is up with Big D?

Midnight Captive takes place in Dublin for the most part, and while I really enjoyed Sean and Bailey's story - I'm more than ready for Sullivan and Liam... will that happen?

I thought this book was going to be a love triangle since that is the impression I got from the synopsis. So, to be honest, I have been avoiding this book because I really don’t like that kind of drama. But since I have loved pretty much every book before this one, I couldn’t ignore it any longer. I just needed to get it read and done with it so that I could read the next book in the series. I just hoped it was not as a big part of the book because it is always the same thing. One girl, two guys and it is just exhausting. Well I can happy announce that this is not one of those books.
