I enjoyed how this delved into Evader's past. I liked to see that, plus his growing self-acceptance.

Incredibly slow burn on the mystery in this one but it works really well as a character study of our noir detective, Andy, as he comes to terms with his past and works toward his (hopefully happy) future!!

In hindsight, I should have guessed this book would be just as full of moving depictions of queer community and belonging as the first. Not only is it a great noir mystery, it’s a trenchant take on how secrecy and shame and isolation can turn us into monsters, and the necessity of community and acceptance, of them, for them, and also of yourself. 10/10, will definitely be reading this one again.
