I remember one summer at the lake all of the moms being obsessed with Emily giffin’s books and I’m going to be honest this is terrible. I don’t get it. Something borrowed was bad but it was still kind of fun in a trainwreck kind of way. This had nothing redeeming. I thought Rachel was a bad character since she was “not like other girls” but Darcy is 1000 times worse. Darcy was just so annoying, vapid and judgemental. Her “redemption” was not a redemption. I just didn’t care about her and wanted the lovely Ethan to run as far as he could.

I had always been a huge Darcy fan by comparison (Rachel bored me), so I was seriously looking forward to the second installment which is Something Blue and fortunately, unlike Something Borrowed, I finished it in the span of seven hours! I was totally in-love with Darcy's brilliant transformation - from a 30-year-old psychotic preggo-bitch to a sweet and compassionate momma of two twin boys.

Despite being annoying in the first few chapters - complaining and whining and being totally oblivious to Marcus' lame-ness -, I was still head over heels with her spunk and determination, especially the part where she got a brash reality check from Ethan. Who would've thought?! :") I was kinda on the edge when she was torn between Geoffrey and Ethan too. I keep thinking that she is gonna switch back to the old shallow Darcy any minute and pick the hot, buff and loaded ob-gyne over geeky but sweet novelist! *sighs* Who would've thought? :")

Reread December 2023 I always have to read this one after I read Something Borrowed… even though I don’t like it as much. Well, actually, the first half or so is just as good… but then it falls off. I think I honestly like Darcy better before she becomes a better person. At least she was entertaining! And kinda funny, in a ridiculous way.

Still, I like this enough to have read it a dozen times, so that’s probably worth something. I just love the Rachel & Darcy world. I don’t know why; I recognize they’re both pretty shitty people, for different reasons. Rachel is definitely better off without Darcy though, as opposed to the opposite. So it was nice to see Darcy realize that.

Original read: 2016ish

After "Something Borrowed" ended, I really was not too enthused about hearing Darcy's side of the story. But it turns out, I think I liked this book better than Something Borrowed...I love how Giffin changes my mind about Darcy. I absolutely love the ending, and I love Ethan. I am such a sucker for a best friend turned boyfriend turned husband...cause that is how my relationship with my husband started. Loved this book!

I just reread this again, because I love this book so much. I read it again in one day! There is just something about it...it is one of those books you can't put down!
