Truly wonderful. I didn't think I could love these stories more, having only seen Peter Jackson's film adaptations. But Tolkien's prose jumps off the page, and it soars to such great heights.

I enjoyed this much more than I expected. While I stilled preferred the first part with the majority of the companions, I found that I also enjoyed Frodo and Sam's adventure more than the film. I'm also increasingly impressed with Andy Serkis and Sean Astin's performances. They play the characters so perfectly.

Sam is still the hero for me.

What a cliffhanger of an ending! Wow! On to part three!

(I guess the “Two Towers” referred to the Orthanc tower at Isengard, and the Dark Tower at Barad-Dûr?)
