Truly cannot overemphasize how gross/yucky/icky the body horror in this book is. Expect vivid descriptions of extremely unpleasant bodily functions and experiences, for both humans and animals. When they finally acted, it was too late - had it ever not been too late?
To say I didn’t know what I was getting myself into would be an understatement. And yet at the end, through all the gore, the pain, the quasi-panic attack I had about 3/4 of the way through the book, I was glad I read this.
That being said, please check the content warnings. And if you have any kind of contamination phobia like I do, meaning bodily fluids and parasites, please don’t read this. I likely wouldn’t have picked this book up if I had known what lurked beneath the cover. And if you read the word “kitten,” skip ahead a few pages. I did and I couldn’t be more glad

This is one of the only books that physically impacted me. The scenes are so visceral. First third is great, middle third is gag inducing, final third made it all worth it!
