I would have rather read this solid classic than "Lord of the Flies" in High School despite its transparently on the nose ending.

Found the style of writing very strange but was never bored.

Finding out from the ‘afterword’ that the novel is a few short stories melded together totally made sense. It felt like an anthology movie where everyone remembers the good vignette but forgets the others.

I loved the concept of a town memorising literature; every chapter per person.

Literature will never die, even when the books are burned.
