The male characters are oddly female coded, with mean girls and gay single dads both serving bitch. The sex is… well, during what should be a vulnerable and intimate scene, the sentence “Soon Russ’s asshole would be as full as my heart.” is uttered. So. It was certainly meant to be funny but that’s a no from me, dawg.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
🌶️🌶️.5/5
This book was so funny! A touch cringy at times, which I don’t mind from time to time. I wish they delved more into the relationships between father and son (both R/Q and C/J) and the family dynamics of two gay single dads raising sons. It would’ve been interesting to see Josh bond with Russ as well as Quentin with Cal. They sort of stay away from anything too deep for more than a conversation which I feel I could’ve taken the book to the next level if we dove in deeper. But a fun low-angst sweet MM Romance!😁

I feel like 4⭐️ means that it was good, made me happy, had the feels, etc but wasn’t like…something I tell everyone to read. Consider this review a comment on non-specific reviews by yours truly.

Loved the spice and the chemistry between the two main characters. It’s a super wholesome story.

This is a new to me author and this first book is the start of what I think will be a good series. Both MC's are single Dads learning to cope with bringing up their children alone, going about it in very different ways. Cal is the more likeable character in the beginning, he is identifiable to me, where as Russ was harder to warm up to but truly the characters my heart went out to were their boys.
This is an enjoyable enemies to lovers, forced proximity story with plenty of chemistry between Cal and Russ, I look forward to how the series will develop.

Even though it took a while to find its footing, once the narrative evened out and we focused on the two men interacting and facing off while co-leading a scout troop do we really see the magic of the enemies-to-lovers trope. Cal and Russ have great chemistry and it's when they get their heads out of their butts and start to see past the baggage that things really start getting swoony. I love when they go dad mode and help each others done out and start growing roots of a beautiful blended family. The spice is also VERY NICE and the love confessions at the end are totally swoony.
