4.1 AVERAGE

Robert Bryndza has quickly become one of my favorite authors. My only regret is that I just have one more book in this series to read. I need more Detective Erika Foster books! I think the appeal to me is not just that the stories are gripping, but that I can relate to the stage of life that Erika Foster is going through and how confusing relationships can be as you get older.

If you have time to waste (and absolutely no standards for how you waste it), Robert Bryndza is your guy. This is yet another poorly written, sloppily structured book.
You’d think that, among the plethora of characters, at least one might behave like a normal, adequate human being, or at the very least, not feel designed solely to test the reader’s patience, but no.
Six books in, and I’m still not sure if this series (pretending to be some “strong-woman-in-a-hard-situation” manifesto) is just a long-winded (and truly badly executed) exercise in mocking. But goddamn, am I annoyed with everything about this nonsense.
Still, I’m going to finish it, even if it’s only out of pure spite.

Book 6 in the DCI Foster series. This one had me guessing right up until the shocking end. I was wrong twice about who the killer was and I was completely blown away by the twist. I hope there are more DCI Foster books to come.

Definitely more "wordy" than the previous Erika Foster novels. Less substance - I found myself daydreaming while listening to it. (I listened on Audible)
dark mysterious tense fast-paced

Really enjoyed this book up until the ending. I think I would have liked it better if the last scene between the murderer and Peterson hadn't happened, as it leaves more room for interpretation. But overall it was a good read, with some nice developments for Erika as well. Some scenes at the start read a bit too much like torture porn for me, but I am still enjoying the series.

Erika Foster is on her way to Christmas lunch when she comes across a crime scene and jumps in to help. She finds a young woman stabbed to death on her doorstep and Detective Erika Foster along with her team rush to find the murderer who has a habit of attacking victims while wearing a gas mask.

Deadly Secrets is the 6th book in the Detective Erika Foster series by author Robert Bryndza and is as entertaining as the others in the series.it’s a fast paced police procedural with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and an unpredictable ending . Cannot wait to read the next one in the series !

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

I hope there will be more. Erika Foster is a very enjoyable character.

3/5 stars. Starting to get really disappointed with the series and don't think I will continue with the next release. Erika is really getting on my nerves and the story line was partially predictable and partially extremely unrealistic. Also, I know UK detectives and police don't carry guns, but do they really interrogate potential suspects of horrific assault crimes and murders without any form of back up or self defense? If so, that's insane.
