LOVED THIS! Need Life on the Level like now.

Critically
Plot – 4 out of 5 stars
Loved this so much! It’s funny, sexy and honest. There are so many different real aspects of life represented: addiction, betrayal, family relationships and more. It’s emotional and heartfelt and realistic which just enough drama to keep things moving but not too much that it feels like a bunch of BS. I was completely taken in by what was happening the entire time.

Writing Style – 4 out of 5 stars
Simple yet engaging. Detailed and descriptive but not overly so. It’s absolutely hilarious and real and honest. It just completely enhances the story. I think the greatest part about this is that it represents an honest to God latin family with all its quirks and crazies. It hooked me right in and never let me go.

Characters – 4.5 out of 5 stars
LOVE THEM SO MUCH! I feel like I say that a lot but its so so true. I was a little apprehensive at first because although we get introduced to Sky, the main character, in the first book, we don’t really get to know her much except for the fact that her boyfriend is cheating on her. So I was nervous that I wouldn’t be as interested in her point of view as I was with Lucky. I WAS SO WRONG! Sky is like the older sister I have always wanted. In the beginning, she’s a bit passive which is fine considering how heartbroken she is. But slowly but surely she starts to be more honest with herself and others and makes her own decisions. She’s also very protective of her friends and family, no matter how much they drive her crazy and I loved that about her. Our male protagonist, Hayden, IS MY BAE! I love him to death, he’s my first book boyfriend and I am heart eye emoji when I think of him. He’s a huge flirt, but not in an annoying way. He’s sweet, compassionate and considerate about Sky and her decision to take things slowly. He’s really patient with her and protective of her and although he has his moments of jealousy, he’s an all around great guy and I want him for myself. The only complaint I had for the first book for the fact that I didn’t feel like we got to know the side characters enough. Zoraida totally fixed that this time! All of the characters were complex and interesting, whether they had a big role in the overall plot or not. I felt like I got to know all of them on a basic level and it just made me want to ask for more books with those characters.

Emotionally
SpoilerThis blew me away! Ten times better than the first book and one of my new favorites!

The plot is real. We follow Sky who, after finding out that her boyfriend’s been cheating on her, decides to spend the summer at the Hamptons to help her uncle with his wedding. Between a meddling family and a persistent ex-boyfriend, the last thing she needs is a roofer literally falling at her feet. Like I said before, I was a little hesitant to start this book because I didn’t know how I was going to feel about Sky since we hadn’t gotten to know her as much in the first book. But within the first chapter, I was hooked. There are so many amazing themes and situations dealt with in this novel. Heartbreak, family expectations, relationships, and what it means to accept yourself and what you want from life. One of my favorite parts about this book is the emphasis on the Latin family. I have never felt so represented or understood by a book before. The way a Latin family is and behaves is so accurately portrayed in this book, from the nagging mom, to the jealous cousin, to the approved male suitor to the chorus of old ladies commenting on everything you do. That’s what happens and although we are from two different countries (the people in this book are Ecuadorian and I’m Venezuelan) it still speaks on the generals that come from being Latina. Everything is so genuine. And I loved being able to see myself so clearly in a book. It shows the imperfections and the struggles and the wonder of life in such a wonderful way. Even the romance is tried and true, not rushed or insta love style, but built and developed over a period of time. I just loved it so much.

Sky slowly won me over. At first, I wasn’t sure about her. She seemed really passive and weak to be honest but her personality slowly came out and she got to me. I really appreciated the fact that she wanted her space after her breakup, whether or not Hayden showed interest in her or not. Usually when reading New Adult, the girls find the new guy and he changes their lives and they dive right in now matter what they’ve been going through. Sky didn’t, she was heartbroken and she acknowledged that. Hayden was interested and he did not hide that at all but she put space between them because she wasn’t ready for anything with anyone yet. I loved that about her, she knew her own limitations. I connect with her on a deep level because she’s the kind of girl that wants to please her family, and be good so everyone will be happy with her choices. But she came to the point and made the decision (which I have as well) to choose for herself. To do the things she wanted to do, to be around the people she wanted to be around with and to live her life for herself, whether her family likes it or not. And that’s really hard to do but it just makes her that much more amazing to me.

The side characters in this series are a shining light of complexity, diversity and entertainment. I mentioned the family already but I love them. They’re hilarious and they fight and they get on each other’s nerves but you can still feel the love between them. River and Leti which are Sky’s best friends are absolutely amazing. They’re both very different but their dynamic as a trio is so cute and genuine and I’m so glad we got to know them while reading Sky’s story. And finally, and most importantly, Hayden, my precious cinnamon roll. He’s so amazing, I want him to be real you guys. He has just enough patience and fire to make him the perfect book boyfriend. He lets Sky know he wants her but accepts that fact that she doesn’t feel ready for a relationship. He keeps showing his interest but not in an annoying way where it feels like he’s pushing you beyon your comfort zone. Read this book to experience the way a guy really needs to be like.

Favorite book of the series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sky is trying to put her cheating ex-boyfriend behind her by throwing herself into throwing her uncles the wedding of their dreams. Her plan is to have a boy free summer so she can get her mind right and figure out what she wants to do with her life.
Her plan is thrown to the wind when sexy, sweet Hayden falls at her feet..literally. Sky doesn't want to get involved in another relationship, but she may not be able to stop herself for falling for Hayden.
I really loved this story. It was relatable, sweet, funny, and really well written. I thought Sky was your typical woman; she's working through love and heartbreak, figuring out school and her plans for a career, and balancing an overbearing family-she's someone a lot of women can relate to and look up to for her way of handling things thrown at her.
Hayden is my new book boyfriend because of how sexy and sweet he is. He rolls with the punches Sky throws at him and never pressures her for more than she's willing to give.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a funny, quick, sweet love story that had me captivated from the beginning!!

5 STARS :)

**LOVE ON THE LEDGE is the second book to Zoraida Cordova's On the Verge series. All books can be read as standalones**

LOVE ON THE LEDGE by Zoraida Cordova is a fun, amazing, smile-inducing, laugh out loud story that will make you feel all happy inside! I enjoyed reading this book with its family chaos and craziness.

The book revolves around Sky, who is a wedding planner for her uncle's gay marriage. She throws herself into the wedding planning to try and forget her break up with her ex and what her future will be at the end of the summer. Not to mention her bitchy cousin and her mother trying to set her up with a guy and hoping that they'll fall madly in love, get married, and make babies. Then one day, a man falls from the sky. LITERALLY....like through the roof and slammed onto the floor of the guest room...where Sky may or may not have been naked. Well...that just proves that men CAN fall from the sky when you wish hard enough. As Sky and Hayden get to know each other, they fall in love, but family, unwanted blind dates, and exes stand in the way of their happiness.

I LOVED HAYDEN! He is sexy, charming, witty, and full out drool worthy! Not to mention he has GREAT hands...... ;)
The romance and chemistry between Sky and Hayden is perfect and I couldn't put the book down because I couldn't wait until another scene happened with the two of them together!

Sky's family was beyond entertaining and fun. It had the awesome, rebellious cousin, the best friend that got into trouble, the bitchy cousin, the disapproving adults and relatives, and the gay uncle. Could it get any better than this? NO. No, it cannot. I had a lot of fun immersing myself into Sky's big and complicated family. I especially liked Leti, the most spontaneous of them all! I also enjoyed River's character with her mysterious characterization. I hope to learn more about her in the next book, especially with what happens at the end of LOVE ON THE LEDGE.

Even though this book may seem to center around just romance, it also focuses on independence and self discovery. Fighting for what you want and diving head first into it. This is what happens to Sky. Cordova develops Sky to be this obedient, good girl that does everything that is expected from her, not what she truly wants. She becomes a nurse and goes on blind dates to please her mother and family, not herself. As the story progresses, Sky must choose between what is EXPECTED of her and what she WANTS to do. Many readers can find that they can relate to Sky with their own lives and problems. I know that I can relate to Sky extremely well.

Overall, I enjoyed this fun and sexy romance with its spontaneous and rich characters. I would recommend this book if anyone is looking for a light, fun, romance comedy that will make them smile and laugh out loud. I look forward to continuing this series by Cordova!

This book was good once it got going, but I had a hard time getting in to it at the start. You couldn't help falling for Hayden and all his charm.. I mean literally falling from the sky....Who couldn't love that :) I am glad Sky realized that only she could heal her heart and that she couldn't let the past dictate her future. *ARC complements of the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun book! Great characters, no unnecessarily over the top drama and no alpha males, which was a nice change to my usual reads. The story is pretty simple and easy flowing. Definitely recommend this!

4 stars!

Oh my goodness, I love these books. They're romances, but they're so much more. There are complicated friendships, complicated families, COMPLICATIONS, and I love them so much. Sky is such a great character - I hated her in Luck on the Line, but then she grew on me in the end and now I love her. Letty and River are excellent side characters, as are Lucky and James. And then there's Hayden. *heart eyes*

I loved this book for so many reasons, and I'll detail them all when I post the full review later in the summer. <3
