I really don't know why it took me until now to read this series. I loved the anime when I was younger but for some reason never thought about checking out the manga. Better late than never!
Reading this has made me feel nostalgic. I've missed this cast of characters so much. They truly are a fun group and are probably one of the main reasons why I love this manga series so far. Yato is a chaotic mess and I love him for it while Hiyori is so kickass but still caring. They balance each other out but also seem to just bring fun chaos with them wherever they go.
The plot, though not the most original, is compelling and seems to be kicking off at a decent pace. The art is pretty and the fight scenes so far do not feel too cluttered. I can easily see what is going on in each panel without having to squint at my screen for a minute.
Overall, the first volume does a great job of building the world and its characters.

4 stars.
I had the urge to read the series over from the start for the last few months, so I finally just decided to do it and I'm glad I did. Since I got about 5 volumes in, I've already grown attached to the characters and care about them. I definitely followed the story better this time around since I know the tone of the series and the humor. Rereading this volume just made me realize how much the characters grew in just the first 5 volumes alone. I'm excited to continue rereading and get further into the series.

This was fun. I got a little lost at times but I still enjoyed it. It made me curious to see what will happen in the later volumes, how the characters will grow and change, and also made me want to check out the anime.

Read to chapter 65
Fan girl mode activated. I am in awe.

This was amaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzing!!! I am such an idiot for not reading it sooner. Or a dang sly fox so I can binge read all the available manga's over and over while waiting for a new chapter every month.
This has action, comedy and some romance, but don't worry its very cute and doesn't over power the other themes. I love all the characters. They compliment each other so well. And the manga just keeps getting better the more volumes you read. There are no fillers. When one story arc ends another begins.
Seriously it's fabulous. And so is the anime.

Guess I'm in the minority. I didn't like this at all. The characters (especially Yani) are unlikeable, the plot is confusing, and the art is messy. I've read reviews that say this is funny, can't see it myself.
Don't continue with the series.

I have watched all of the anime that is currently out for the Noragami series and wanted more, so I decided to read the manga! That being said, I already knew I would love the story and characters. I love the humor in the series, and it carries over well from manga to anime. I really appreciated the bit at the end of this volume on the translation of certain phrases and other possible meanings and an explanation of how it is being used because I know a lot can be lost or changed in translation. It really helped to explain a couple things I had been wondering about, such as where Hanki and Shinki came from. I haven’t seen a manga include this before, and was very excited about it and hope it continues in the later volumes.
I also like that the manga isn’t basically frame for frame the same as the anime because I have read several series that were so similar I didn’t end up finishing the manga. Great introduction to the characters and basic plot line and setting. I love how complex Yato’s character is and can’t wait to see Yukinae’s character develop in the manga.
