Too many characters to keep track of. Everyone is so mean to the FMC, can’t deal with it.

Evie Murphy was accused of ruining Christmas last year after the man she had been seeing claimed she was stalking him and they never had a relationship and that he was with her cousin. Now a year later she's determined to not be the family disappointment anymore and to find a job that she will not be blacklisted from. She catches Anderson Wynter trying to break into her family home and bribes him to be her fake boyfriend and to help her prove that last year her ex gaslighted her and really was with her. Anderson is a bad boy with a dirty mouth and he hates the Murphy's but does not want to go back to prison and has a plan to ruin the family by exposing them for insurance fraud to his friend/boss Aaron. Both Anderson and Evie hate that they are attracted to each other and falling for one another. Anderson tries to be an asshole but Evie is confused because sometimes he is her hero and super helpful. Once they get the proof Anderson has to turn in Evie's favorite brother for knowing about insurance fraud and the two are both hurt. Evie chooses her family full of users instead of Anderson when he almost gets her brother sent to prison and Anderson is determined to leave town after Christmas. When Evie's older brother stops her from making a huge mistake and being the family's personal slave by telling everyone that Anderson was never a bad guy who tried to kill him but his friend who went to jail for him instead of ratting him out Evie realizes what a huge mistake she made and wants to be with Anderson forever.

I liked this book even though Anderson was quite the asshole in the beginning and Evie had absolutely no backbone. I loved Granny Doyle and Snowball and also liked Anderson's brothers. I was glad that Evie did stand up to her parents but got a little pissed at her for always being their punching bag and letting Anderson have to save her constantly. I did give it four stars instead of three though because it was really funny and made me want to binge Alina Jacob's other books.

It was a mess…and the spicy scenes were not my scene. But mostly, there was too much going on that just didn’t make sense. It feels like this could have used some solid editing, but the bones of the story were fine.
