Thank you so much for the chance of reading this book, I was so excited when I received your email granting me your permission to read it. However, it wasn't for me. I had to force myself to read it. The first 36percent, there is too much repetition of she/he that I lost track of who the author was talking about. In the dialogs I got confused about who was "talking." There wasn't a relationship at all between main characters. How am I going to know they're falling for each other if the romance plotline is weak. I love romance, and this relationship is just flirt but I don't see love at all.

Things I loved and enjoyed about this book are: The STEM world (as a math major, thank you for this), female friendship, i love this 3 women bond. And even though, I like to read stories that with heroines that are shy, submissive or damaged, it's a pleasure when she is a strong and independent main female character. I wish this book gets more stars from what I'm giving it. For me, this book rating is ⭐⭐⭐.

I found the writing to be flowery and almost embarrassing in many parts, so much so that very early on the ELA teacher in me started editing the writing like I would with my 8th grade students (side note: how does Samiah’s sister, a middle school teacher, not know a single Drake song? This detail, presented in the first two pages, may have really been what lost me). At that point it was hard to enjoy the story, which really just seemed to alternate between descriptions of how gorgeous and perfect all of the characters were and the constant reiterations of the inner turmoil the relationship was causing them. At a certain point, okay, we get it!

Also, the constant kombucha drinking?! Who needs that much kombucha???

The most compelling part was how Samiah grappled with representation as a black woman in tech, and how that drove her both personally and professionally. I also appreciated her relationship with her sister.

Really enjoyed this book. It was a romance novel, but it was also about a young successful black woman who has worked hard to get where she is in life. It's about friendship between 3 women who were all betrayed by the same man. It just felt real and honest and believable. Though it didn't give me all the feels like some books do. But I don't need to be on an emotional rollercoaster with every book I read so that's ok.

Me gusto mucho esta historia. Empece la serie en desorden, pero no pasa nada, aún así se puede disfrutar.
