This book is junk food, it’s meant to be sweet, funny, with some complexities but overall, it’s meant to give you a cavity. Cat’s constant freak outs about unicorns (including unicorn underwear) was INCREDIBLY cringy, but her overall attitude to “supes” was understandable. The ending really clinched it for me as a 3.5 star because I was desdset not expecting it.
I’m really curious to find out more on how Sawyer and Cat deal with him being an incubus in the next few books.

AHHH! I LOVED this book - such a fun ride and I didn't want it to end. The characters, especially Cat were freaking awesome - Cat's snark and sarcasm was dead set amazing. Cant wait to get to book 2 - the end came far too quickly on this book, I think that that this series is going to end up phenomenal...this was such a great start.

I don’t know how there are 5 books in this series. I could not stand this character. She’s supposed to be this snarky, badass cop. Her character just made no sense at all! My review is probably going to be all over the place just like this freaking book. Ok let’s start with her personality. “Snarky” must be code for a crass, mean, judge mental idiot. Cause that’s what I got from her. All those high school movies with the mean girl, the bully. Yeah that’s Cat. She hates supernaturals. ALL OF THEM. Why? Who the hell knows, I didn’t get that far. I’m sure it has something to do with her fathers death which was years ago. Add to that she didn’t know (nobody knew) supernaturals existed until 6 months ago I don’t know how you’d have such a deep seated heat for a whole species in 6 months. I mean she’s glaring down supes in her gym simply because they are supes. That’s it. No other reason. The whole beginning of the story made no sense either. First day of the job and her partner is killed in front of her by a supe and she’s blamed. So what do they do? Place her with supe copes where in her first day (so second day as a cop) she’s given a sword. Yes a sword cause you know cops are regularly trained with swords….and sent out into the world of supes where she proceeds to use said sword and kills a kid. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!!!!
honestly at this point I’m at chapter 5 and I’ve had it. This writing makes no sense. The character is ridiculously self righteous and comes off uneducated and the story line is so obvious it makes me want to chuck the book (I mean really she has a necklace she hasn’t taken off in 14 years EVER, gee wonder what it will do). Plus this felt so familiar. I know I’ve read a book maybe 2 like this before. Awful.
