I couldn't even finish the end of this book. It just wasn't well written, which made the whole idea of the book too corny to enjoy.

I'm between 3 and 4 stars. The book was an enjoyable, light, fast read and the MMC isn't a toxic asshole. But, there is not a whole lot going on in this book. It's just one sexual tension scene after another.

I did appreciate that both the FMC (Riley) and MMC (Aasher - really, with two a's? Can't we have male main characters with normal names, like just Asher or James or something?) had their prior traumas but it didn't take the forefront of who they were.
SpoilerFor example, Riley's (I think) rape (or at least sexual assault) affect her actions and how she viewed herself but she didn't introduce herself in the story screaming about how that was her entire personality. It felt organic.

The ending felt a bit rushed and I'm conflicted.
SpoilerOn the one hand, the inevitable blow up with Riley's dad was over and done before I knew it. On the other hand, it would've been over exaggerated for a (seemingly) normal, protective dad to not be able to handle it.
Maybe I'm just used to reading dark romances or romance fantasy where everyone is just a bit too much and so having characters who react reasonably threw me for a bit of a loop.

Finally, and I ask this with all seriousness, can we do away with the term "puck bunny?" I get that (at least in romance books) it's a hockey thing but it's cringey, gross to say, and demeaning. It makes me take the book and all its characters less seriously whenever it's mentioned. I also don't get the girl characters in the book who can stand by that being used? If someone referred to me or my friends as one, I'd never speak to that person again. I can't believe one of the (granted, minor) characters got called a puck bunny to her face and like wasn't that mad?

I really enjoyed the fmc but I do not like to read 100 pages of a book and he still has on page time with his fuckbuddy. Sorry not sorry🤷‍♀️

I honestly enjoyed this story but I couldn't give it 5 stars because of the on page, descriptive sex with OW

Dislike to love with forbidden romance and a tiny dash of bullying? Sign me up! I loved both Aasher and Riley equally with their shit-talking each other and all that tension.
