I swear Melissa Foster can write some romance and pull out all the feels. When I first laid eyes on Jock was in Bayside Fantasies, it was when he noticed Daphne. We get their story in the first of the new series, the Steeles of Silver Island. The tales there are going to be so good. But back to Jock. He has tragedy behind him; Melissa helps us feel the pain he's enduring as he tries to move past his pain and guilt. This story is complex and profoundly moving. Yes, tissues were involved.

Daphne, a single mom, has her daughter Hadley who has the most winsome personality ever. I believe Hadley is going to be an old soul, but she loves and loves hard. Her character is a driving force in the novel's movement, and it makes for another layer of emotion that just pulls at your heartstrings. When Jock and Daphne begin building on their friendship and mutual attraction, everything clicks, and we know the story will only get better. We have a fantastic supporting cast from previous books that give support, advice, and action. Plus, we meet the Steeles (Jock's family), who will entertain us as this new series progresses.

I enjoy Melissa's writing, and this is one I enjoyed enormously. The first books I read by Melissa were the Sugar Lake books, and all three of those novels involved tissues, lots of tissues. This book is the same, Jock is an unforgettable character, and Daphne is perfect for him. Add in the delightful Hadley, and this book is setting the stage for a stellar new series.

This is my first book from this author and I plan to explore her different series! The single mom trope was done super well and I really enjoyed the romance and the side characters/found family!

If I could give this book more than 5

Favorite Melissa Foster so far

I believe every word of Jocks struggle with Hadley and Daphne. I fell in with Silver Island wishing it was real. I could feel the love of connection and family.

I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this book. From the moment I started reading I was completely hooked and I knew this book would be an emotional one.

Daphne is a divorced, single mother and has the most adorable three year old EVER, Hadley. Hadley is her entire life. She always puts her daughter first. I loved their mother/daughter relationship and Hadley will completely steal your heart. Hadley doesn’t smile for everyone, but this little girl will give all her smiles to Jock Steele, unfortunately, he has his own personal struggles when it comes to young children.

I loved the chemistry between Daphne and Jock. There were so super sweet moments between them and some emotional moments, as they both explain their pasts to each other and their insecurities. Jock really wanted to me the man that both Daphne and Hadley need and deserve. The banter between Jock and Daphne was fun, light and hilarious at times. I loved the back and forth between them so much.

Tempted by Love is an emotional and beautiful story that will tug on your heartstrings. It is also a great start to the Silver Island series. This one is a MUST READ!

It took me so long, but it was good!

Jack “Jock” has been struggling with the demons of his past for a long time and when Daphne and her daughter Hadley come into Jock’s life he feels a strong connection to them but can not seem to move forward from his past. Daphne finds Jock handsome and funny but the fact that he can not be around Hadley is a big concern to her. Will Daphne and Hadley be able to help Jock heal or will his demons keep him from happiness? Tempted by Love is the first book in the new The Steeles at Silver Island series.

Melissa Foster truly knows how to elicit every emotion from you while reading. I cried happy and sad tears as well as smiled so big it hurt. The relationship between Daphne and Hadley is amazing, Hadley is too adorable and reminded me of my boys when they were young. I loved the playfulness and chemistry that is between Jock and Daphne and how their relationship bloomed from a friendship into something unforgettable. Another emotionally beautiful story that tugs on your heartstrings. I am looking forward to more of the Steele family.

I’m completely in love with Jock Steele omg he was such an amazing character.
The fact that Jock was able overcome his past because his love and devotion for Daphne and Hadley really touched my heart

3.75 stars
i love the single mum trope especially with the grumpyxsunshine trope with it - it’s just magical
i did really enjoy many things in this book like the chemistry between characters, the relationship between the MMC and the child and the character arcs
however, there was something that it missed and i’m unsure what but there didn’t seem to much special or different about the book
it was a nice, fluffy read and would recommend to others :)

The cuteness of Hadley is 5 star worthy alone!
Such a good book. Guy with troubled past finds his true love ❤️ I loved Jocks family!
