What I initially found interesting in Vicious, is that there was such a large point about Dean’s anger toward Vicious about dating Millie, Dean’s ex, and being with her in his apartment. The whole ex-girlfriend thing. Which I get, but despite the loss not being great for either of them, the author did make it a thing in that book. In this one, we get a totally different story in which I don’t see why he would even have cared. From the very beginning, it was always Rosie. Even with Millie, it was Baby LeBlanc he wanted. I just found all this a little bit inconsistent.
But the rest, I have zero complaints about! LJ Shen gives more hot sex, deep characters, and a love story to fawn over.
First, Dean and Rosie are both amazing characters. While Dean projects one thing, he has a backstory so deep. The author did a great job fleshing this out and linking it with the present and main plot. Rosie is a girl with a life-threatening illness, but it never stops her from doing what she wants. More of her illness is revealed as the book progresses.
They have an amazing romance that really started back in high school, but never had a chance to actually happen. So while there’s a bit of push back from Rosie at first, it doesn’t drag, since they book soon realize what they’ve always felt for one another. This leads to crazy hot sex, and a romance so sweet I cried. Literally. Especially toward the end.
This is a story of true love; of the ups and downs, and what love should look like. Dean was there for her in (almost) every moment of the book, and cared for her when she needed help.
I love this series and bring on Trent’s book!

the only part i liked about this book was seeing emilia and vicious again
How is it that Shen can do this to me? She always has me back and forth, all over the shop, trying to to find where Is stand on the characters she has created. I love them, then I hate them, then I may love them again, but some I learn to despise. She has a way, with her stories, where she can really get you to feel on the same level as you do in real life. It is as if you are truly there, right in front of these people, living along with them, as the story unfolds. Ruckus, well, it was an eye opener. Yes, I bloody well loved it, and, yes, it made me go through the full cycle of emotions with the characters.
End result, I love Vicious and Emilia even more. Their story was horrifically perfect for me. However, Dean and Rosie’s is perfection on an entirely different level. It opens your eyes to the possibilities in relationships and what trials some couples must go through, just to be together, in the end.
I loved the detail that was put into the story. From the small details that really brought the characters to life, to the twists that Shen threw at us, to really keep us guessing as to whether or not these two would really be together. I loved reading along as they faced challenges and made decisions that would change their lives. It was intoxicating, and so hard to put down.
This is truly another must read that has been added to the SoS series. It perfectly fits with the series and truly adds to the excitement and messed up lives these lot live. If you loved Vicious, you’ll definitely enjoy this read, though it is very unique in it’s own way!
**I received an arc and chose to provide my honest review.

This book is a ride! Firstly you have this whole history with Dean and Rosie and how they basically lived each other at first sight but there was a slight hiccup in which he was dating her sister, Emilia! Fast forward to present day and Dean is done caring about what anyone thinks! He pursues Rosie relentlessly cutting out other women, drinking and drugs to prove to her he can change. However during all of this he’s keeping a huge secret while also having a secret being kept from him and with that truth bomb drops he does the unthinkable resulting in Rosie catching the consequences.
I really enjoyed Deans character; he’s fun, caring , attentive and protective. Yes he has major issues but he really tries to work through them to become a better person. I have mixed feelings about Rosie. Yes I know she has an illness but she’s gone from her parents to Emilia to Vicious and then Dean taking care of her and has the nerve to complain about it. She really sees Emilia with envy especially with attention shifts to her sister for a fraction of time instead of being solely on her. I will say however her dad is a major D-I-C-K and I didn’t appreciate him at all.
I really enjoyed this book and all the twists and turns it offers! Getting to still see Vicious and Emilia so much was just icing on the cake for me! On to Scandalous!

My favorite so far in the series. Love how Dean stopped his manwhore ways the moment he and Rose started something. I love how he didn’t treat her differently because of her disability. I hated Rose parents, they treated her like a child, incapable of making her own decisions and it was so irritating. Only thing I really hated was how much he referenced Rose sister as his ex-girlfriend, like we get it, no need to bring it up as much.
Graphic: Chronic illness
It was okay. I never expect a literacy masterpiece with books like these, Shen writes well and I’m definitely a fan of her writing style. I think I’ve just got a bit tired of YA romance books at the moment and it’s hard to find one that really captivates my interest
