Twisted Love

Absolutely unputdownable!

Tears, emotions and unexpected twists - I loved it. I thought Vicious was a 5 star read for me, but this was even better. Second chance romance always gets to me somehow, even though I convince myself that I don't like it.

At first, Dean's character looked like it had no redeeming qualities, but he came through in the end. He sometimes frustrated me with all the selfish cockiness after he got the girl, but I'm willing to look the other way with the groveling. Rosie was relatable to a fault and in my eyes, could do no wrong. Her character growth was astounding, and I read this cover to cover in 2 days.

if you want an engaging second chance "it's always been you", pick this up!

I want to start by saying I like this book. I really do. Maybe just not as much as everyone else I know who read it. When I started reading the "Sinners of Saints" series, people told me to push through "Vicious" and get to Ruckus. I loved Vicious. I didn't loved "Ruckus" as much.

But I have to say, I absolutetly fucking love Rose LeBlanc. She is my kind of protagonist. She didn't bow down easily. She knew how to play, and she wanted to play. She was aware of how life is unfair and strange. She does what she wants even if people try to restraint her. She is does not let herself be reduced to her illness. Rose LeBlanc is a badass and I will love her forever.

I also like Dean Cole. His secrets were not what I was expecting (I was surprised and I'm rarely surprised by books, because usually I quickly pick up the plot twist), and I was glad to see how fiercely he loved Rosie. His character had so many layers, from start to finish.

BUT... This book took a while to take of for me. Maybe because I knew a few spoilers. Maybe because of the flashbacks (especially in the beginning). The fact is it took me a while to go around and finish it, and I didn't enjoy it as much as Vicious. There. I said it. The epilogue is good, but I know tragic events will come. Not ready for it. See, maybe my problem is the spoilers. Anyway, it feels like a fair 3 stars book.

3/5⭐️

It was so good that I had to switch from 4 to 3 stars the former book of the saga.

Okay, the thing is... I really hated everyone at the beginning of this book.
But then I ended up loving everyone and I can't wait to read about Trent and Edi.

I love Dean 'Rukus' Cole. This story of Dean and Rosie was everything I wanted it to be. I was a little confused at first because in Viscous, Rosie was written as this very sickly, frail young girl who can't take care of herself. So when she is written as a young woman who is living alone and dating I was a bit surprised. I loved the banter between the two of them and of course loved reading about Viscous and Jamie from the previous books. Dean really stole the show in this book, I love a broken man and we got to see how flawed he was and how he dealt with hitting rock bottom. My biggest problem was the drama with Nina. I didn't really believe the storyline with that and wished it was something else.

Not for me. DNF at 68%. I really tried. But once he drags her through glass and forces her into pain and more degrading things I was done. I’m ok with a broken boy, but not a mean or degrading one. I found nothing good in Dean up to 68%.

It’s been over a week since I first (yes, first;) read Ruckus by the ever so beautiful and amazing LJ Shen. Have you ever read something SO fan-freaking-tastic, that you just could NOT express it? Because that was me. All I could type out was –Oh. My. God. I can’t even!! For those of you unfamiliar with Sinners of Saint, Ruckus is about a “hothole” (hot as hell asshole;) named Dean & his obsession with a sinfully fragile girl named Rosie. It is written in first person alternating POVs by these two crazy kids which makes it all the more amazing! Now, where to start? The writing-oh my God the writing!
“Soon. I knew, we would succeed. Dangerous chemistry. Our bodies were attuned in a way souls are. Faultlessly. His skin on mine was like being kissed everywhere down to the most isolated corner of my body.”
Seriously. LJ just GETS it. From hauntingly beautiful passages like the above, to the hilarious witty banter via texts by Rosie & Dean-it is all so freaking amazing you want to savor each sentence. Each paragraph. Each chapter. Yes, it’s THAT good. And the sex? Holy hell, so steamy you will be blushing & biting your lip the entire time!
Now the characters & the storyline…..Rosie…Baby LeBlanc….nothing keeps this girl down. Despite having a chronic disease that often comes with a short life, she lives to the fullest. She & Dean have a history, but it was her sister that got him first. SHE “saw him first, craved him first, loved him first”. Then quietly stepped aside for her sister’s happiness. Rosie is the kind of girl women wish to be, and men want to have. She is a tiny fierce blond pixie just trying to find happiness in the time she has left. Loved her, absolutely freaking ADORED her. This is what I enjoy about first person POV and a writer as amazingly talented as LJ-you FEEL what Rosie feels, right down to your toes you feel it all. Then there is my now favorite hothole- Dean ‘Ruckus’ Cole. Yup. Favorite. He is cocky, full of so much swagger I’m surprised he remains in an upright position-but he is everything! Hot, sexy, sarcastic, possessive –what’s not to love? He isn’t without faults, though he acknowledges them so –bonus points there. Then the chase, he’s after her at all costs but plays it oh so well…..just slipping in when she needs him most…and Rosie lets him in despite her years of trying to block him out. They ARE the moon and sun, not able to live without one another, completely complimenting each other-undeniable chemistry.
This book had me sucked IN. Everything faded away while I read, it was all that. I have read everything this beautiful talented Goddess of a woman has put out, and loved every single novel. But Ruckus? Ruckus OWNED me….maybe because I’ve been on a downward trajectory losing someone I loved…I was just so affected by the beautiful verbiage, strong realistic some-what broken characters, hilarious af witty banter, steamier than hell sex scenes….all of it. This book is it, LJ Shen is a Goddess. Read it. Love it. Savor it.
