there is just something about the beautiful mundane details in claire keegan’s writing. this was such an interesting perspective on learnt misogyny and inherited behaviours.  i just love being able to read a story in one sitting.

Interesting short story, I enjoyed the slow reveal as you learned more about what was going on with him and how he’d been in his relationship. You could really picture the feeling of being the main character sat in the house.

It’s very hard to rate and review this book as it’s a short story, but the writing is superb, in fact close to perfection in my view. Keegan writes so beautifully, giving away the exact right amount of information, understating yet giving the reader enough information to paint a picture in their head. As a story it gives a snippet into the life of an office worker in Ireland who is reflecting on how the person he is has effected his life.
