I did not like this book. Calyx's attitude irritated me. I don't like that kind of persistence. The Captain is an ass. I hate the way empaths are treated. Just about everything in this book bothered me.

This book contains gratuitous sexual assault that is treated too casually and recovered from completely unrealistically. It may not bother others as much as it does me, but it bothers me a lot. Conflict between the characters could have been created in any number of effective and emotion-inspiring ways that did not include violation.

I thought I'd be getting an angsty story about a junkie joining a super police team, and then, over the course of the book proving that not only is he super useful, but also that he's a human being worthy of respect, love, and loyalty. (By the way, anyone have any recommendations for books with this premise?)

Spoiler, that doesn't really happen because the plot is hijacked by everyone being a jealous prick, hiding a horrible tragic past, wanting to sleep with everyone else, and/or being utterly oblivious. The only sympathetic character (Starr) is kicked just one too many times.

Sometimes reads as a shakier version of In The Company of Shadows series. Similarities to the PsyCop series are almost non-existant, unless you count cop m-m romance and existence of psychic powers.

Good

Good work from Owens. I have read better but I'm always up for giving people a go. The characters have depth and Owens doesn't hold back on details for a change.

Holy Shit this book was FREE and has been sitting in my Kindle cloud for 6 months. I loved this book, it has 2 great alpha MC's and the steam rises from my kindle when this two are in the area. Great read moving on the book 2.

An interesting urban crime story with a sci-fi twist (and a romance twist). It's weird and interesting, though the story would have benefited from a stronger focus (one love interested to focus on is enough, maybe one ex, but in the background please). It was an entertaining read for sure but I don't feel like I need to continue the series.

No.

This book is... depraved. Every "sexual" scene veers towards sexual harassment and more. There were no likable or rootable characters. At first, I thought the world this exists in didn't have any woman, but apparently they do exist, just not in the police force. And let's not add that fucking terrible title.
