Scifi lord of the flies? AI runs a rudimentary society. Meanwhile, big man riles outcast group of starving people to colonise planet for a higher purpose. Sth sth "mastery by birthright". They then proceed to bludgeon a town (where the only details mentioned are when women are killed). Last 15 pages of "redemption" for the protag to wizen up helplessly as his perennially dialogue-less sister is tortured and as she fights back to protect them. Even then, we're asked to sympathise for the helpless protag who things have passively happened to all book long. Lesson: 'humans can forget critical thinking but that also kept them alive and existential ideology is complicated.'

Book is a waste of time and what could have been a good scifi experiment if the writing & ethics weren't complete shit.

Unintended (?) other conclusions the book comes to:
- Might is primary power, even if you also have the ideologic high ground.
- Ambassadorial dialoguing is the ideal conflict resolution.
