I really loved her conversational style, her personal experience also felt similar to mine and her no-nonsense attitude was so refreshing... this was a fun but surprisingly informative read!

I really enjoyed learning more about the famous show-write. I’ve enjoyed many of her shows and so I wanted to learn more about her. This book delivers on teaching about Rhimes while also introducing the reader to her life philosophy and how she got there.

Over the top. She could have boiled it down to - ten steps to life improvement and left out all the fluff. Or suggested we listen to a few of her speeches. She's right, she has a lot more help and money and friends. It's a good story, but she loses credibility by trying to be just like everyone else. She is not. Not even close. She may have the same trials and tribulations, but all the bantering about becomes irritating. If it hadn't been a part of my book club I would not have finished the book.

A fun and engaging book. The writer of Grey's Anatomy shares how she turned saying no into yes and embraced the scary things to live a more fulfilling life.

2nd read through, 3 years later. Shonda is witty and creative and shares her journey of digging out of misery while successful to joyful and confident.

Someone on amazon reviews said it’s too american (cheesy) and repetitive, and I wish I had listened! She’s an inspiring, admirable woman, no doubt about that.. but, this could have easily been an essay. Hell, this could have been an instagram caption! It went on and on and on saying the same exact thing in different ways. To sum it up - get out of your comfort zone and the world will open up for you! The end. :)

This book was truly an inspirational one. Being an introvert myself, I always connected with the characters created by Shonda Rhimes. The book revealed a lot about the author but it also reveals a great deal about the reader. It’s not the traditional autobiography. It is also not a traditional self help book. I love that she is normalizing a great about the world in her work in TV/ film but I am more inspired that she was brave enough to take control of her life and live for herself. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

I feel Shonda was talking not only to me but about me. I too have felt similar feelings to her and I too have started to say “yes” more. This book has helped me stay inspired and keep making positive changes in my life.

If you are a Shondaland fan, you have to get this! I recommend the audio book. It's wonderful to hear this journey in her voice, with her familiar phrasing and inflections. Inspiring.

This was really fun to read/listen to! I find Rhimes's success amid balancing her own life really impressive, and I have to admit I'm a big fan of her shows! I love how she highlights that there is no one right way to do life, no one right way to be a parent, and no one right way to success. I also loved how her one year project of opening more opportunities for herself by saying yes to more events and projects turned into a much longer lasting lifestyle for her. The thing I guess struggle with is that I don't find it very... relatable? Rhimes does a great job of showing how hard she worked to get where she is while also acknowledging some resources she had access to that many don't, which is good. But, there were a few times that I found myself thinking "it must be nice..." Because of this, there were many times I personally didn't find myself connecting to the book, but it is still seriously a fun read, and I loved getting to know Shonda Rhimes a little more!

A great book with lots of laugh out loud moments. I listened to the Audiobook and I highly recommend it because Shonda Rhimes narrating her own story is hilarious. I was also pleasantly surprised with how each "yes" unfolded and progressed. I would highly recommend it!
