A slow starter, but an enjoyable read. Harry Bosch is a fascinating and frustrating character, and I love it when he gets to stick it to jerks like the IAD cops. The one thing that annoys me is how slow his partner Edgar is - does Connelly dumb him down on purpose?

Very solid police procedural. In fact, for this series, I think it was more procedural than mystery. I really liked that. It had a rhythm and flow to it that was different from the previous 4 entries. There is evolution of the characters and the writing/depth of the plot. Only downside is that Edgar seems to be evolving into a whiner.

LAPD detective Harry Bosch is back. Bosch’s new case will have him traveling to “Sin City” Las Vegas as well as seeing old acquaintances. What happens when a Hollywood movie producer is found shot twice and his body left in the trunk of his car? Harry will ask himself these same questions, while trying to solve this homicide. Tony Alisio was found dead and it seems for some people that are just fine with that. The suspect list is long from Tony’s wife, Veronica and a stripper by the name of Layla. Plus what does the mob have to do with any of this? While in Vegas, Harry runs into former FBI agent and ex-girlfriend Eleanor Wise. Can Harry close this case or will seeing Eleanor make him run off track.

I really liked Harry Bosch. He is a sharp shooter. You always know what you are going to get with him, whether you disagree with him or not. Mr. Connelly has written a great character in Harry Bosch. I grabbed this book and started reading it and even though it was late at night, I just knew I couldn’t go to sleep till I had finished reading it. Luckily for me, Trunk Music moved at a very fast pace that never let go till the end. I found Trunk Music to be a good crime/mystery story. Michael Connelly has been a number one best selling author for years and he deserves to be on top.

Did not enjoy this Harry Bosch series read quite as much as some of the others. When B-grade L.A. movie producer is found stuffed into the trunk of his Rolls Royce, all signs point to "trunk music" --a mob hit. Detective Harry Bosch, returning from his "involuntary stress leave," is not so sure. And when he finds the money trail, he follows it…all the way to Vegas.

Seems this Tony had his share of enemies, and in no time, so does Harry: Vegas thugs, LAPD's organized crime unit, a smarmy internal affairs investigator and, of course, Tony's killers. Everyone wants a piece of Harry. And somehow, they've found just the way to get it. . . Eleanor (ex lover of Harry's gets involved and some romance rekindled as he faces the trunk music.

Connelly is consistently fascinating. This isn't one of his best but it still puts it ahead of many other contemporary writers and if you're just looking for some good quality fluff this is it.
