Trunk Music is a very good police procedural mystery thriller. This 5th book in the Harrry Bosch is the best of Connelly’s first five books. Protagonist Harry Bosch is more likeable and less flawed in this book than previously. The addition of Kiz Rider and Grace Billets was very positive. Highly recommended if you like mysteries. Fans of Robert Crais and John Sandford will appreciate Connelly and this series. 4.5 stars.

*This review is more focused on the series as a whole, rather than specifics of Trunk Music.*

In general I prefer crime dramas set in UK or Scandinavia as they provide a richer world to get lost in. However, Micheal Connelly’s Harry Bosch Universe is one of the only ‘American’ series to give me the same level of escapism that I crave.

After watching the series adaptation produced by Amazon Studios starring Titus Welliver, I was inspired to read the series. 6 books later I am still as engaged as ever.

A fair number of changes were made to the world of Harry Bosch in making the shift from page to screen and honestly both has been highly enjoyable.

The books provide a deeper look at Harry Bosch’s history, values and psychology. This makes The plot twists, false leads and Harry’s outrageous decisions not only authentic but satisfying.

I highly recommend the series especially for someone who has recently moved to Los Angeles. The city is her own character, this beautiful messy place where there is a thin line between dreams and nightmares.

At least one of the surprises I saw coming.

I love these books! It is delightful to read them for the first time. I do not know what I’ll do with myself when I finish them all.

Harry Bosch is at it again, in spite of more intradepartmental discipline than any cop could possibly endure. Another good story, though in some lewd settings. Not my fav, but not bad.

I predicted who the "bad guys" really were in this book almost immediately, not sure if that means it was predictable or that I'm just really, really good at solving crime mysteries. =)
