This was a very good book. I loved the beginning, where we are introduced to Sally, Samira, Ruth and Janey, and how they come to be in the situations that they are in.
I thought the humour was well done, but it is mostly a dark book, and I would not describe this as cosy at all. It's very dark, and I would recommend checking the content warnings before you dive into this one.
The main drawback here was that it was quite slow-paced and took a while to get going, plus there were multiple references to covid and lockdown (it's part of the plot), which might bother some people.
I really liked the female friendships that developed out of this situation that the four women found themselves in, and the ending, while unsurprising, was a good one.
I'd recommend this, but be careful and check the content warnings before you pick it up.

The vibe of this book reminds me of the book “The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires”. It’s outrageous but relatively entertaining. Decent girl power (female friendship) story. A dark comedy intending to make the reader laugh, but also think. Trigger warning: domestic abuse/violence. This book just reinforces how uninterested I am in ever getting married.
15 chapters in and her husband’s body is STILL in her house. I can’t do this. Gross.

I really enjoyed this book! I think the author did a fantastic job of incorporating dark humour into a serious topic. I loved the dynamic between the ladies, and the diversity that existed between them encapsulated the extent of the larger issues really well. I would comment on the feasibility of the plot but that's not the intention of the book - it's just a silly goody time to make us forget about the horrible realities that exist for many.

I’m glad these six women were able to find each other at the most difficult time in their lives.
