not quite sure what compelled me to start reading this book – i went through the binge-reading phase as soon as quarantine first started in 2020, and ordered this book up on a whim, thinking that i would really enjoy it.

to sum up my opinion – it’s not a terrible book, and there were moments when i liked the plot, but when you write a novel with almost half a million words, i believe that it would be quite difficult to not accomplish that.

I have loved the It movie(s) since I was a child and then rekindled that obsession with the newest renditions. This is the second Stephen King book and the largest book I’ve ever read. It was, putting it mildly, a masterpiece. Epic, epic storytelling. Fully immersive and the way he layered the chapters together seamlessly from one point in time to another was genius.

* I bounced back and forth between physical book and audiobook and the audio was amazing. Highly recommend.

Oh my God, this book was fantastic.
Again, I decided to read it because of the film adaptation that was coming out as I'd never watched the original TV movie (FYI the new film is fantastic, go and see it) and had heard a lot of good things about the story.
I'm not afraid of clowns - yes, they're freaky but they've never been something that I've shied away from - so I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the book: would it still be scary? Would I be as affected by it? Would it actually be any good?
The answer to all of the above is a BIG FAT YES.
This is probably the longest book I've ever read and I would 100% read it again and again and again because it was brilliant - Stephen King is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest horror writers out there and this book did not disappoint.
