I enjoyed this book, however, the ending was so textbook! I knew from reading the first chapter how it would end, that's what made it a three star book for me. I always root for the bad boy in Jane Austen's novels and was hoping that Fanny would end up with Crawford, although I knew it would take time and patience for that to happen.

So great to reread this after a couple of decades. Probably Austen’s most neglected book, as well as her longest and possibly most narratively complex (but that may be Persuasion). It also is much blunter in the interrogation of class and social morality.
One particular joy with Austen is her playfulness in blurring the narrative and authorial voices to give the reader greater insight into characterisation without relying on exposition or dialogue. As always with Austen the pleasure of watching her draw the various threads of plot together over the third act of the novel is incredibly rewarding.

This was my first time reading Mansfield Park. I absolutely loved all the characters, intrigue, and emotions. A happy ending and justice for all.
