Captain Jack Sparrow meets Garak in the Mos Eisley Cantina for some insta-love and life time mating. Add a sentient cock and tentacles for pubic hair. Tell 'story' in prose so sparkly purple it ascends the spectrum into the exalted realms of ultra-violet, and voila: Details of the Hunt.
For more fun, this book's drinking game words:
1) Captain Jack says 'mate'
2) Garak/Talos calls Aidan/Jack 'runt' (this is apparently an endearment)
3) Bonus points for 'tar-stained hands'!

Wow. I have had Details of the Hunt sitting on my to-read shelf for more than a year. After reading it I cannot believe that I let such a wonderful book sit on my bookshelf for so long, and I cannot wait for book two to be published!
Details of the Hunt was so intriguing! The 26th Century and an 18th Century pirate—it was filled with humor, danger, and some very hot (if somewhat odd) sex scenes.
When I say humor I think you have to picture it—we have a very charismatic, young pirate captain (Aidan) from Earth in the 18th Century who is saved from drowning by a 26th Century alien who he believes to be a sea monster.
Aidan was a riot! He had me cracking up almost every other page. He had no idea about this new world, time and its people but he kept true to character of how he was in the 18th Century; a pirate, a thief, charismatic, a flirt, too curios for his own good but also honorable and caring.
He readily accepts the new time and its people after he realizes he isn’t dreaming or dead; of course he is not happy about being sold into what he thinks of as slavery. But he has Talos, the 26th century, time-traveling Oracan bounty hunter who has taken him.
Talos was attracted to Aidan right off, he felt the urge to take him as a mate, and the only thing stopping him is that the pirate is the bounty of a legal Hunt that he has to turn over to another. But soon even that is not enough to keep the two apart.
We do have some weird thrown in that made me reread a few paragraphs before I understood (mostly concerning the Oracan sexual organs) but I think that is part of Details of the Hunt’s charm. It was definitely not a book like any other.
Overall I would highly recommend Details of the Hunt to anyone looking for a great male/male science fiction romance read and does not mind a little weird/odd in their books.
2.5 rounded down
There is A LOT happening in this book. A little strange, and a little bizarre, but an interesting read nonetheless.

I'm torn. On one side, I really enjoyed Aidan as a character. He's got a bit of a Jack Sparrow wibe, that I liked. The romance was... OK.. The anatomy of it all, now.... It was odd, even for my imagination.
I'm not much of a sci-fi fan, but this was ok.. All in all, not sorry I read this book. Will be reading the next one, too.

It was a very interesting premise though you must suspend all belief and go with the flow to enjoy it. Both MCs personalities? Tone of voice? were inconsistent, which made it hard to picture them. There is kidnapping, hidden treasure, bad guys, strange aliens, time travel, and pirates. Oh and some really different sex…
So, I've had this book languishing away on my iPad for a year now and never read it simply because *drum roll* ' I hated the stupid cover!' yep, I committed a mortal book sin... Judging a book for it's tacky cover. Well, I learned my lesson and having read a few other books penned by Laura Baumbach ( which I absolutely loved), I decided to finally take the plunge and read this one. I could kick myself for waiting so long simply because:
This is the steamiest alien sex I have ever read! I'd tell you to read this book for that reason alone!
Fortunately, Baumbach, is a very talented writer. The book delivers on many levels:
The MC's are likable
The sex is hot
The writing is wonderful
I laughed my ass off a few times.
This book is pure Sci fi fantasy deliciousness
If you are in the market for a book featuring all the above listed. This story delivers! Loved it!

Very entertaining,funny book with imaginative alien/human sex. It took a while to get to the sex but when it happened it was fantastic fun. What's not to love?
The sex scenes in this book killed a part of me.
And I'm glad it's dead.

There is something ridiculous about this book, but I really enjoy it every time I read it. Great fun.
I just deleted my comments/30% review without publishing it. I was about to hit "save" button, when I realised that there is not a single positive word that I can write here about this whole ordeal. Instead, here is a simple list of issues I have so far:
- 24 year old manchild, and not the fun Jack Sparrow or Tom Hanks (referring to movie "Big") type;
- 24 year old manchild who by some mighty miracle survived as a pirate and a captain to be 24 years old;
- hygiene;
- neglect. Because letting the poor boy run around in wet clothes, while dirty and stinky is neglect;
- commas. OMG, they are killing this story! Not there is much to kill, but they are the proverbial kick, delivered to someone who is already down :/
I remember the times when this book was a big deal and everyone and their cousin was reading it and loving it. It was such a hype! *sigh* What a disappointment in turned out to be! :(
PS I wish Samantha Cayto re-wrote it. After all, there is a potential here, it's the execution that's lacking :(
UPDATE:
I really don't know how the two MCs survived; one as a pirate for as long as he did, the other one as a Hunter. Must be by some miracle.
Great disappointment of a book :( 1 star.
